Ballyduff 0.11 v Finuge 1.13

On Tuesday evening last in Coolard pitch with a delayed throw in time,  Ballyduff  B and Finuge B played out an exciting encounter overseen by referee Brendan Griffin Clounmacon.  It was Finuge B  on the scoreboard first with a point from man of the match Jamie Galvin in the third minute.   Ballyduff B didn't get on the scoreboard until the ninth minute with a point from mid fielder John Hussey, but this was to be the start of the domination in the first half by Ballyduff B with scorers coming from all over the pitch. But Finuges captain and leader Jamie Galvin converted an awarded free in the 6th minute to keep his side ahead, play drifted up and down the pitch with the backs on both sides doing an excellent job in overturning the ball. But it was Ballyduffs  Aidan Boyle who broke the deadlock to  point in the 12th minute and in quick concession full forward Sean Costello fired the ball over the bar to bring his side a point ahead. Finuge were finding it hard to get to grips with Ballyduff,  but the indiscipline by Ballyduff  were allowing  Finuge to keep in touch when an awarded free was duly converted by Jamie Galvin in the 15th minute. But from here on in it was all Ballyduff, and the neutral thought this game had gone as a contest.  With Aidan Boyle adding a point in the 16th minute and late change Jonathan Ross splitting the post in the 18th minute there was no reply from Finuge who seemed to lose their shape. The play again drifted from end to end and it was Finuge Neilus Mackessy who fired over a point to to leave the narrowest of margins between the two sides.  An awarded free converted by Padraig Hussey Ballyduff to put two between the teams but again indiscipline by Ballyduff allowed Jamie Galvin to cut the lead to a point, this was to be the last score of the half for Finuge. But it was again the seasoned players from Ballyduff who drove their team on with three more points added before the half time whistle from Aidan Boyle, Sean Costello and Roger Costello.  Half time score Ballyduff 0.09 v Finuge 0.05

Second half and whatever was said inside in the Finuge dressing room it was all guns blazing and the players hit the pitch with a new peep in their step and out scored Ballyduff by 1.08pts to 0.02pts. Within 40 seconds of throw in Finuge mid fielder Jeremy McKenna split the posts his team mate and companion at mid field Jamie Galvin added the next two points to bring a point between the teams.  The aging legs of some of the Ballyduff warriors were showing and this young Finuge team ran rampant two more to the scoreboard to go ahead for the first time in the match points from Jacob Lucey and James Flaherty.  Again a player that owes nothing to his club Aidan Boyle Ballyduff tried in vain to rally his team and fired the equaliser over the bar in the 46th minute.  But with momentum on their side Finuge Jamie Galvin put his team ahead for the second time in the 47th minute.  But the killer blow came in the 48th minute of the game when full forward for Finuge Brendan Angland drove a bullet of a shoot past the Ballyduff keeper to raise the green flag for the only time in the game to the roar of the Finuge supporters. Again that man Jamie Galvin fisted a point over the bar to bring five points between the teams.   Mid fielder John Hussey raised the white flag for the last score of the game for Ballyduff in the 60th minute of the game, and awarded free given to Finuge and converted by Jamie Galvin put 5 clear points between the sides.   But as we all know Ballyduff never give up and drove at the Finuge backs with urgency ball after ball were fired into the full forward line but Finuge with stood the pressure and at times things became heated, everyone watching the clock and 7 minutes added on it was relief to the Finuge management when the whistle blew. Munster Final

Both the Kerry Senior and Kerry Minor teams featured in the 2019 Munster Final in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday last. 

Kerry have retained the Electric Ireland Munster Minor Football Championship.

First up was the Minor game  Kerry overcame Cork in the Phase 2 game with a superb display of football, this was a tight game and Cork gave the Kerry Minors a right game up until the final whistle, hopefully this will stand to Kerry going forward in the hunt for retention of their All Ireland Crown. They’ve made it 7 in a row in the Province, beating Cork 3-14 to 2-14.  The Kerry Minors now go on to face the Ulster runners up on either the Saturday 27th/ Sunday 28th July.  Best of luck to all the players.  On the minor panel we have Darragh Lynch Listowel Emmets who had an outstanding second half display, Joseph Linehan Knocknagoshel who started at midfield  and Kevin Goulding Ballyduff who featured in the game and was showing well for the ball  best of luck to you all again in the Quarter Finals.  
 

The senior game threw in at 7pm and again the Cork Senior team had fierce pride in the jersey and in front of their home crowd proved no easy fete for Kerry. The Cork running game proved at times difficult for the Kerry defence and showed that their is still plenty of room for improvement if Kerry are to be serious contenders for the Championship going forward. Final Score Kerry 1.19 v Cork 3.10 for their seventh Munster title in a row.  From the district we have on the senior team Shane Enright Tarbert and Jason Foley Ballydongohue.

Jimmy Keane Brosna and his Kerry Juniors take on Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn next Wednesday 26th June at 7.00pm and are hoping for a sixth consecutive Munster Title.  We wish Jimmy, his backroom team and players all the best.
