NORTH KERRY UNDER 15 SUPER – TOUCH BLITZS 2014

RULES
Panel Games are 10 a side  
Clubs are limited to Panels of 12
Panel of 12 must be submitted at the start of the night and these are the only players that can play for the duration of that night

Only 12 players can tog out on the night

Time
20 Minutes per Half

Kick
Outs Kicks Outs to be Taken from the Hand

Ball
Size 5

Penalty
Penalty Kicks can be awarded.  The size of the square will be at the referees discretion.  

Cards
If a player receives 2 yellow cards he misses remainder of that game.  If player receives red card he misses next game

45’s
45’s to be taken 35 metres from Goals  (Mark with cones if necessary)

Playing Rules
Full G.A.A Rules apply

Draw
If a game finished level 5 minutes extra time will be played.
If scores are level after extra time a penalty shootout will take place (3 kicks per team)

The Under 8 & 10 Workshop with East Kerry G.D.A. Vince Cooper will take place next Wednesday night April 23rd at St Senans G.A.A. hall Mountcoal at 8pm sharp. It is again very important that all under 8 & 10 coaches attend this workshop as it will be a huge help to them in the months ahead.

North Kerry Football Board Mental Health Awareness

The GAA has become a key player in fostering mental well-being and this being the
year of Mental Health Awareness within our organistation, when the North Kerry
Football Board was approached by X-Istance Youth Café Listowel to help support
and give our backing to the launch of their calendar “Picture My World” the North
Kerry Football Board recognised that it has a responsibility to help in difficult times.

There is no better organisation on the planet than the GAA for reaching into the heart
of the community. It has a presence in every village, which is the ideal starting point
for this type of initiative."

What we would like from every club within our district is to help promote the
calendar and ticket sales for the launch which is supported on the night by “Walking
On Cars” on Thursday 12th December venue: Listowel Community Centre @ 6.30pm,
to attend such an informative night will empower each club committee with the
knowledge of contacts and organistations that are available within the county should
the need arise within your club.

The North Kerry School of Football Excellence under 13 skills competition 2013 took place in a very windy Duagh last Saturday.  I would like to thank all clubs that ran the skills competition internally in there own clubs and sent there winners to Duagh. After each player had completed the test, 3 players finished level on points Kieran Ward Knocknagoshel, Sean Hanranhan Bally/Asdee & Fergal Wall Listowel. A tie-breaker round then took place with Kieran Ward running out the eventual, Fergal & Sean could not be separated. The final result is as fellows

Under 8 & 10 Fun Games and Drills Workshop
Munster Ladies football Development Officer Mary Beades will deliver a practical workshop on Fun Games and Drills for Under 8 & 10 Coaches on Monday 4th March in Listowel G.A.A. Ground at 7pm.
The workshop will demonstrate Games and activities on the following areas:
Fun Games for Young players
Improving Technical Skills
Fundamental Movement Skill Activities
Improving Decision Making
These are extremely important years in developing a players movement skills and technical proficiency. When players reach 12 years old it is difficult to change or improve techniques that are ingrained in their motor plane. This makes it crucial that coaches provide players with the correct learning environment and introduce skills and techniques at the correct age groups. This workshop will provide coaches with an understanding of the stages of development of young players and when is the most opportune time to introduce different activities.

" style="font-size:small;text-decoration:underline">Under 12 & 14 Conditioned Games & Drills Workshop

North Kerry Games Development Administrator John Dillon will deliver a practical coaching workshop on Monday 18th February in Listowel Emmetts G.A.A Grounds.
This workshop will focus on Conditioned Games and Skill Drills for Under 12 & Under 14 players. During sessions it is important that coaches constantly challenge their players and to achieve this coaches need a large bank of games and drills. Young players expect sessions to be varied and challenging and for these players to improve, coaches need to organise and run quality sessions.
The conditioned Games and Skill Drills that will be demonstrated at this workshop will help to develop skilful players that are good decision makers.  The workshop will focus on the following
1.Skill Drills to develop and improve player's technical skills
2. Conditioned Games to improve player's decision-making and fitness levels.
Under 12 & Under 14 are age groups that are extremely important in shaping a players development and it is vital that coaches involved at these age groups have sufficient knowledge to aid this development.
I would encourage all clubs to send their underage coaches to this session on Monday 18th.  I'm sure all coaches attending on the night will pick up some ideas that they can use with their own teams.

‘Decision Making Games & Activities'

 

Former Kerry Coach & present Mayo Coach Donie Buckley will give a Practical Coaching Workshop on Decision Making Games & Activities on Monday February 11th at 7.30pm in Listowel G.A.A. Grounds. 

It is crucially important that coaches set up situations in training that will help players to make better decisions when they are in possession of the ball.  Also it is important that players make good decisions when they are not in possession.  Players that do the right things at the right times are invaluable to a team and throughout this workshop Donie will demonstrate Games to help players in this regard.

Donie will demonstrate a series of high intensity Games that not only will help a players Decision making but also work on improving player's technical skills and fitness levels.   When a coach sets ups the Games in training it is then important that players are coached to improve throughout the session.  From watching this workshop Coaches will go away with a clear knowledge in how to develop and improve the players they are coaching.

Donie is vastly experienced and is one of the top Coaches in the country at inter county level. This is a great opportunity for Coaches in North Kerry to see him in action.  I would encourage all clubs to send in as many of their coaches as possible to this workshop as I'm sure everyone attending will benefit hugely.

Workshop with Kerry Great Mikey Ned O Sullivan

‘Individual and Team Defending'

Kerry Minor Manager will give a Practical Coaching Workshop on Defending on Monday February 4th at 7.30pm in Listowel G.A.A. Grounds.

At the workshop Mikey Ned will go through all the individual traits that are required to develop top class defenders and will demonstrate on the pitch through a practical session ways to develop these traits. It is important that all players on your team are able to defend and tackle on a one to one basis and to achieve and for this to happen players must be coached on how to defend.

Mikey Ned is a vastly experience Manager and Coach at inter county level and this is a great opportunity for Coaches in North Kerry to see him in action. I would encourage all clubs to send in as many of their coaches as possible to this workshop as I'm sure everyone attending will benefit.
