On Sunday last March 30th a packed U. L. hoisted 2014 Munster Finals of Scor Sinsear. Certainly it was another special day and one to cherish for Scor in the County as the Kingdom were participating in all of the seven catagories. The Quiz which had already been finalised at County Final day and here the Churchill Club from Tralee/St. Brendans Board had already booked their place at the All Ireland Finals. Without doubt the the wealth of talent in Scor in the County was very much in evidence with the Kingdom coming away with three Munster Titles having to overcome stiff opposition from the remaining five Munster Counties. In the winners enclosure when the Adjudicators made their final deliberations were; from the East Kerry Board, Glenflesk took the Figure Dancing category, Ray O Sullivan from Spa brought down the house in the Recitation section while Kilcummin showed a clean pair of heels to all others taking the Set Dancing discipline. However we must spare a thought for our other competitors who performed very well but just lost out Aoife Ni Choilean, Austin Stacks, Solo Singing., Kilcummin, Ballad Group, Na Gaeil in Leiriu and Ballydonoghue in Instrumental The final step of the journey for our victorious Clubs will be the Travellers Friend, Castlebar where the All Ireland Finals of Senior Scor on Saturday April 26st will take place. Another great night of entertainment was enjoyed by a large attendance at the Fossa Community Centre on Saturday evening last March 15th where the Estuary Print and Trophies, Ballylongford sponsored County Finals of Senior Scor took place. Clubs representing their District Boards from; Mid Kerry, East Kerry, Tralee/St. Brendans/Castleisland, North Kerry Football, North Kerry Hurling participated where once again the good sized attendance were treated to a great evening entertainment with the best of Music, Song, Dance and Act performed by top class competitors and with Suzanne Ui Laoire excelling in her role of Bean an Ti the evening went off to perfection. The afternoon got off to an early start with the Question Time getting the days proceedings off the ground. This category proved very disappointing as out of the 72 Clubs in the County only 8 entered; Beaufort, Fossa, Kilcummin, Rathmore from East Kerry, Churchill and St. Pats, Blennerville Tralee/St Brendans/Castleisland and Asdee from North Kerry Football. However well done to all who entered and when the final round of questions were completed and total marks totted up it was Churchill with 91 marks out of 100 from the Tralee/St. Brendans/Castleisland Board that will represent the County at the All Ireland Finals to be held in the Travellers Friend, Castlebar on Saturday April 26th. So well done to Mike Gaynor, Paul Culloty, Alex O Donnell and John O Flaherty. It was a very successful evening for the East Kerry Board who scooped 4 titles; Kilcummin in both Set Dancing and Ballad Group, Spa in the Recitation while Glenflesk made it a very successful evening for the Board taking the honours in the Figure Dancing. Spa Club were the overall winners of Club of the night and Club Scor Officer Shelia McCarthy accepted the Shield on their behalf. Other winners on the night were; Ballydonoghue in Instrumental Music, Aoife Ni Coileain, Austin Stacks in Solo Singing and in the Leiriu category it was Na Gaeil who came out on top. There was an added bonus for the audience as the recently crowned All Ireland Scor Na nOg champions Allison Fitzmartin in Recitation and the Set Dancers both Spa who showcased their winning talent. Thanks; Coiste Scor Chiarrai Thuaidh, Jack Hennessy.

The important changes to note
1. The new category called Léiriú will replace the Novelty act. Groups are still encouraged to write their own scripts with elements of live music, dance and comedy. cast.
2. The categories of Recitation, Léiriú, Solo singing and Ballad may include pieces based on Irish history and folklore or on the history and folklore of the country of birth/origin of the competitor.
3. The quiz will continue to be organised by Scór but will be held on a different night. It will be a table quiz with 10 rounds of 10 questions. There will be a county final with each winner from the 32 counties participating in the All Ireland final. This will be held on the eve of the All Ireland Scór Finals. The Glenflesk Figure Dancers of, Angela McCarthy, Linda O Donoghue, Siobhain Cashman, Mairead Cashman, Norita Cashman, Lisa Cronin, Cliona Creedon, Niamh Favier and Maria Cronin along with their Dancing Teacher, Norrie Sheehan and many supporters made the long trip to the Dome, in County Derry on Saturday last for the All Ireland Finals of Senior Scor. In fairness it was a duel between Omagh, St. Endas and Glenflesk for the title but unfortunately even though the Kingdom ladies danced to perfection and were well in contention for honours it was the Tyrone Club who received what must be a split decision when the Adjudicators made their final deliberations. However great credit is due to all associated with this wonderful group of ladies who have done both their Club and County proud and certainly there is no shame in defeat when you can perform like they did.
