Duagh GAA
WEEK:It was a great week in GAA circles in Duagh. On Friday night we saw
Anthony Maher being honoured with an All Star award for his outstanding
displays for Kerry throughout the year.Congratulations Anthony and
hopefully the injury will quickly clear up and you will be back in the
playing fields of Kerry and Duagh before long.It was a proud night for
Anthony, his parents and family,Megan, friends, club and all of us.We have an
All Star in Duagh.
The local Duagh NS boys team created history during the week.Duagh NS won
the county Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 6-8 teacher size title. The school has
been partaking in this competition for over 20 years but final success had
eluded the school on a few occasions. Finally last week Duagh NS defeated
Fossa NS to claim the first Allianz title.Well done to all the
players, manager Karol Dillon and all the trainers that deal with this age
group at Coiste na nOg level. The school would also like to say thanks for
the huge support given by parents etc to the team on final day.Well done to
all.
They say goals win matches and Duagh by scoring 3 goals early on raced in a
substantial lead. However Fossa came strongly in the game in the second half
which ensured a thrilling, exciting and close finish with Duagh NS winning
by 2 points.Final score: Duagh NS 3-7 Fossa NS 3-5.
