Duagh GAA sadly lost great stalwarts recently.Connie McMahon of
Knockaunbrack and Meenanare played under age, senior and junior for Duagh
for many years. His favourite position was wing halfback wearing the number
7 shirt.Sadly illness struck Connie 7 years ago and though he battled
bravely the illness overcame him recently. To his
wife,son,daughter,father,
mother,sister,brothers,all family
members, relatives and friend sincere sympathy is extended.
Club president and former
chairman Tom Sheehy of Islandboy and Springmount Cross also passed away
recently.Tom was Duagh GAA chairman in 1962 when Duagh won the North Kerry
Championship. He was beginning to despair about seeing another title but he
was there when Duagh won the North Kerry title a few years ago.Of course
Tom was with the club in the club final in Croke Park a number of years
ago.Tom was great for the folklore and was also a scribe with a number of
songs penned about Duagh GAA.Sympathy is extended to his son, daughter in
law,grandchildren,sisters,all family members,relatives and friends.
The club also sends sympathies to the brothers, sister and all family
members of the late Gerard Relihan Knockadireen who died recently after an
illness. At a recent meeting of Duagh GAA club
messages of sympathy were passed to the McMahon,Sheehy and Relihan
families.
