Finuge GAA Notes   13/05/2014

Credit Union County Senior Football League Division 1:

MIltown/Castlemaine 1-07, Finuge 1-09

Any team that travels to Miltown/Castlemaine and beats the home team on their own back door deserve all the plaudits they can get. Fact is, this Miltown/Castlemaine are a good team and coming away with a win from Paddy Burke Park isn't easy as most teams that have travelled there will testify to.  However, Finuge won this game not via luck etc, but purely by grit, determination, team effort and an ability to take important scores.
This was a moral boosting win and hugely deserved. In an ideal world we should have picked up points in the League prior to this game, but there is a steely determination about this team and with the coming of age of some younger panel members, we're beginning to come into our own and prove that we are well capable of competing with the best in the County. We had a rather sizeable support presence at the game and this was genuinely appreciated by players who commented on it post game and indeed the Club is grateful to all who made the effort to support the team in Miltown.  Credit must be given to Miltown/Castlemaine who produced a fantastic match programme and took their defeat graciously.  Further credit must also be given to referee Christy Crowley of Gneeveguilla who took charge of the game with authority, was always up to pace with the game and communicated with players at all times.
The seniors are scheduled to play Listowel Emetts in Round 5 of the County League this coming Saturday night at 7.30pm in Finuge
