ASDEE G A A
CREDIT UNION COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Asdee 1-10 Beale 2-13
Cormac Linnane inspired an understrength Beale team minus two of their top players; Ger Gorman and Eric Daly to victory over Asdee in the Credit Union County football League Division 5 semi final play-off played in perfect playing conditions at Bob Stack, Park, Ballybunion on Sunday last. 8pts several assists; it was quite an afternoon for the former Kerry Minor medal holder. Playing at corner forward he gave the Asdee defence a torrid time; dropping deep and displaying the full range of passing and accuracy from both play and frees. It was a bad day at the office for the visitors and with the opposing defence completely on top they were completely depending on midfielder Darragh Keane for scores; with 1-7; (pen and 5 f) The game got underway with Asdee going forward and when a scoring opportunity arose it was squandered and the Seasiders went down field and Cormack Linnane pointed. John Doran and Darragh Keane popped over points to give Asdee the lead but im afraid this was the only time that the visitors lead. Beale got completely on top and despite their total dominance it was Cormac Linnanes accuracy that kept them ahead. Asdee hit a purple patch coming up to the break and Darragh Keane, 2pts and Paul O Carroll had the sides all square. However 3 points in injury time Darragh Buckley, Cormac Linnane and James McMahon had the Seasiders 0-7 to 0-4 at half time. On the changeover Asdee looked like they were staging a mini comeback as Darragh Keane kicked over to narrow the gap. This was short lived with Ian Mannix finding the net in the 4th minute and whatever chance of getting back in the game was put to bed 6mts later when Philly Blake scrambled to the net as Beale emptied their substitutes bench; Darragh Buckley, Fionnan Twoomey, Cormac Linnane swung over further points while Asdee did reply through Darragh Keane from the penalty put a gloss on the final score along with points coming from Eoin Kennedy and Con Carmody. Overall there was never a doubt on the end result as the Seasiders dominated in most sectors and with Fionnan Toomey, John Griffin, Neilus Mulvihill, Darragh Buckley , Ian Mannix and Philly Blake to mention a few on top of their game while for Asdee once again Darragh Keane was their best player, Darren Russell, Eoin Kennedy, John Doran and Jack Keane did try hard. Asdee/Bally 4-12 Moyvane/Tarbert 2-7
Asdee/Bally had a convincing win over Moyvane/Tarbert recently in the North Kerry Under 21 Football Championship Preliminary Round played at Stack Park, Ballybunion recently. The first half was fairly evenly contested and even though Asdee/Bally seemed to be the better team they still only led by a single point at the interval; However they really opened up during a one sided second half playing with a stiffish breeze and with goals coming from; Stephen Lynch, (2), and one each from Liam and Jack Mulvihill they killed off the dogged challenge of their opponents. The games top scorer was Thomas Doherty who had an exceptional game registering 8pts..They now go on to play Listowel Emmets in Denis Dowling Memorial Park, Coolard on this Saturday November 9th. 2 30pm, E T. Team; Gavin Stack, Shea Doran, Sean Hanrahan, Pa Carmody, Conor Keane, James O Connor, Paddy O Neill, Tadhg McEllistrim, Jack Keane, Jack Mulvihill, Thomas Doherty, Michael Holly, Stephen Lynch, Liam Mulvihill, Brendan Keane. Subs; Josh Prendergast, Brian Murphy.
