The Bernard O'Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship Draw (Time Change)

For a lot of GAA Gaels The Bernard O'Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship, officially named in honour of the late Bernie O'Callaghan (Beale) who was Chairman of the North Kerry GAA Board for 25 years (1974 to 1998), shortens the winter months, with pride of the parish at stake and local bragging rights up for grabs.  There is a strong tradition attached to the North Kerry Senior Championship, grandfathers, fathers and sons have all played in their club colors, training deep into the dark winter nights  and believing that anyone can hold the  Eamon O'Donoghue Memorial Cup, named after the Asdee native who starred for the great Ballylongford team of the 1960s and 1970s. 

Club placings in the  County League Divisions no longer matter, the magic that is the Championship has proven that anyone can win on any given day.  There is a belief that if you can catch one of the stronger teams in the first round then your in with a chance. For the Officers of the Board it is a great honour to be involved in the Championship, programmes, match reports and the thrust that is the Championship Final morning there is no better feeling in the world. For the supporters the preparation on the morning of an important match is as if there playing themselves, supporters bring club colours, unity and belonging to there players on the pitch.  For all in North Kerry the Championship defines what the GAA is all about "Our Communities".  And so Championship Fever begins for 2018 with the draw for The Bernard O'Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship which takes place on Friday 31st August at 8.30pm live streaming of the draw will commence at 9pm  in sponsors McMunn's Bar and Restaurant  Ballybunion.
