Kilgarvan 0-5 Knocknagoshel 2-15Knocknagoshel lifted themselves off the bottom of Division 5 Group A with a comprehensive victory away to Kilgarvan. The opening exchanges of this game were even with Gearóid Fennessey doing well at midfield for Kilgarvan but Knocknagoshel did well to cut out the supply lines to John Mark Foley in the full forward line and they counter attacked at pace. Shane O'Connell, after a good run through the centre set up David Cahill for Knocknagoshel's first goal and this put the visitors in the driving seat in the match. John Mark Foley was on target from a free and from play but Michael Walsh kicked two points from midfield for Knocknagoshel with his brother John driving forward from his half back berth to kick two of his own. Seán Godfrey was the only other Kilgarvan player to get on the scoreboard with his point coming late in the first half. In the second half Knocknagoshel controlled matters for the most part with Conor Sheehan and John Walsh coming more into the game and the midfield pairing of Shane O'Connell and Michael Walsh gaining complete supremacy in the air. Kieran Downey scored the visitors second goal when he rattled the net with a left legged shot and this put the game to bed. Kilgarvan had two points in the second half but were left to rue a number of missed free kicks which could have made the final result closer.
