This
was a clash of two promotion hopefuls with all to play for in
Mountcoal. Renards corner forward Sean Connor opened the scoring after
just 3 mins in with a point from play. Senans rallied well after this
and looked a threat in front of goal in the first half and their first
score of the game was a goal from Sean Weir. Renard showed all the signs
of a long distance journey as they found it hard to get into gear in
the first half and Senans took full advantage scoring two more goals
another from Sean Weir and one from Jason Browne. Senans lead at the
break 3-6 to 0-5. The second half was to be a different story as Renard
got their foothold on the game, running at Senans time and time again
and they got their reward in the 54th minute of the game with a goal
from the substitute Robert Wartel. Senans were on the back foot having
to put in some hard work in defence a few half chances came their way
but nothing materialised until Sean O' Connell scored a free in the 56th
minute. Renard were unlucky not to have come away with something after
showing some great heart in the second half but it was St. Senans who
were victorious on a scoreline of 3-7 to 1-9.
