FOOTBALL
The Division 2 back game with St.Pat's, Blennerville was played in Blennerville
last Saturday evening. Due to injuries and other factors both sides fielded
fairly experimental teams. It turned out to be a low key, low scoring
game. Although playing against the wind St. Pat's, with David O'Callaghan
particularly effective were on top for much of the first half and
led 0-5 to 0-3 at the half time break. The home side stretched the lead to
4 points early in the second half but a good goal by newcomer Ian McAuliffe
after 5 minutes following a surging run by Jack Corridan brought Finuge back
into the game. 2 points from frees by Maurice Corridan had the visitors ahead
after 18 minutes but St. Pat's soon equalised. A further exchange of points
resulted in a draw, St. Pat's 0-9 Finuge 1-6. A draw in their last game at
home to Listowel Emmets on November 17th would ensure that Finuge who are
already promoted, would go up to to Division 1 as Division 2 champions. Team:
Cillian Fitzmaurice; Eoin McCarthy, Declan McCarthy, Kenny Waltz; Paudie
Galvin, Jack Corridan, Kevin McCarthy; Maurice Corridan (0-3f), Ian McAuliffe
(1-0); Darren O'Sullivan, Raymond Galvin (0-1), Michael Stackpoole; Brian
O'Sullivan, Stephen Power (0-1f), Gary Hogan (0-1). Subs who played: Keefer
Roche, Jason Wallace, Pat Corridan, Niall Quilter, William O'Connor.
