Asdee GAA Notes   12/02/2023

A Chara,
Please see below Asdee Notes,

North Kerry League Division 2 Rd 3, Knocknagoshel 6-16, Asdee 3-04, once again in this competition a depleted Asdee side travelled to Willie Walsh Park, Knocknagoshel on Sunday last where the home side romped to a facile win. However it was not all doom and gloom despite the 21 point victory; granted it was Knock who controlled the tie from the word go but Asdee in fairness never threw in the towel and kept plugging away. On the plus side Kieran Kelly made a welcome return after a lengthy absence due to injury and made his presence felt making some great runs through the middle which resulted in a well taken goal after 11 minutes. 4mts later as the home side were pressing but their 3pt lead was knocked on the head when Veteran Cyril Dineen turned his marker and had the sides all square at 1-5 to 2-2. This was the visitors last score of the half as James Walsh, Shane Brown,(2) and a penalty neatly put away by midfielder John Bell and at the interval the scoreline read; Knocknagoshel 4-11 Asdee 2-2. The changeover say little difference on the pattern of play but stern defending from John Daly, Kieran Kelly, Patrick Mulvihill and James Kelly our custodian were to help keep the score down. Paul O Carroll very much involved hit the net in the opening minute and points from Eoin Kennedy and Jack Hannon was our lot for the remainder of the game. John Doran and Stephen Lynch held their own at midfield while Ciaran Griffin and Jack Hannon who kicked on of the finest points of the game were always a threat. Still Knock held all the aces and with James Walsh a commanding figure, the McElligots, John Bell and Denis Roache to mention a few were on top of their game. Scores were always easier to come from the home side while Asdee not before now are finding it hard to hit the target.
