Congratulations to Finuge/St.Senans Ladies on winning the County Intermediate football Final with special mention to Niamh Carmody who had a personal tally of 2-3.This win will see them competing in the Senior ranks next year.
Novice County Championship
Ballylongford 1- 12 Asdee 2-10A goal at either side of half time was key to Asdee winning this Novice quarter final by the narrowest of margins played in splendid conditions at Walsh Park Asdee.Ballylongford who were playing against a stiff breeze looked like heading into the break a goal ahead,but Cyril Dineen reacted quickest to a breaking ball and he drove to the net from close range in the 29th minute,with Darragh Keane the home sides top scorer kicked over a point a minute later to take the lead into the break.Ballylongford had positioned themselves well in this opening half Eoin O'Connor got us off the mark with a point in the 4th minute,this was followed with a goal from Ciaran O'Connor from the penalty spot after a foul on Michael Holly.Ciaran added a further three frees,but that goal and point from Asdee put a different complexion on the half.The half time score.Asdee 1-5 Ballylongford 1-4.Asdee got the perfect start to the second half Mike Breen scored a goal in the 4th minute adding to a Darragh Keane point to put them five points clear.Niall Heaphy and Michael Holly kicked over a point apiece in the 7th and 8th minute to narrow the gap while Ciaran O'Connor and Darragh Keane swapped points in the 14th and 15th minute with Joe McCarthy adding another before the final water break.Ballylongford introduced Matt O'Connor and Thomas Doherty for the final phase of the game and the latter mentioned kicked over two fine points.But Asdee who enjoyed a good deal of possession around midfield saw Martin Collins making a good run to get their final score and keep them two points clear of their rivals.Ciaran O'Connor replied with a pointed free to leave the minimum between the sides but time ran out and Asdee now move on to the semi Finals.Referee Dermot HughesBallylongford Team
