County Junior Championship Round 2

Ballylongford 1-7  Ballyduff 5-14

This game went ahead at the neutral venue of Clounmacon  in near perfect conditions.

There was a stiff breeze blowing down the field which favoured Ballylongford in the opening half but it was Ballyduff who opened the scoring with a point from Jack Goulding with David Goulding adding another a minute later.Matt Connor replied for Ballylongford but Ballyduff and Eoin Ross struck for the first of the three goals in the half in the 4th minute and by the end of the first quarter they were leading 2-4 to 0-3  Joe McCarthy and Ciaran O'Connor scoring for Ballylongford.

Ballylongford closed the gap when a long ball from Tadhg McEllistrim was gathered by Ciaran O'Connor and he made no mistake goaling from close range.

Padraig Boyle finished out the half in good style scoring 1-3 in quick succession while Joe McCarthy (2) and Ciaran O'Connor replied for Ballylongford leaving the half time score 

Ballylongford 1-6  Ballyduff 3-8 

Ballyduff who now had the aid of the wind in the second went on to score a further 2-6 with the goals coming from Padraig Boyle and Eoin Ross while Ballylongford only reply was a Ciaran O'Connor point although they carved out two good goal scoring chances but failed to convert them.

Ballyduff will now meet fellow table toppers Cromane while Ballylongford are at home to Tuosist.

Gaa Social

A very enjoyable social gathering was held at Listowel Arms Hotel on Saturday night where the senior team received their North Kerry League Division 2 medals from North Kerry Chairman Johnny Stack.also honoured on the night was the 1968 North Kerry Championship winning team and they were presented with a memento by Chairman John Joe Walsh.A special presentation was made by Teddy Sullivan to Alan Kennelly who retired as County Board Delegate and has served the Gaa in different guises for over 50. years.See the Ballylongford Gaa Facebook page for photos.
