Minor Final : Congratulation to the players and management of the Tarbert Moyvane minor team who won their second competition of the year after defeating a gallant Beale side in the final of the Division 2 North Kerry league. Played in Ballylongford last Tuesday it was the combination side who started well and after five minutes were up 0- 4 to 0-1 thanks to points from Killian Langan and Eamon O’Callaghan. Beale however came more into the game but Tarbert Moyvane backs were playing well and despite missing some easy scores were up 0-11to 0-5 at half time. Points were exchanged again at the start of the second half before another rally from Beale saw them reduce the deficit to four half way through the second half. Three unanswered points from the boot of Killian Langan settled the combination side who ran out deserved winners on a scoreline of 0-17 to 0-11. Great scenes of joy was witnessed when joints captains Liam Greaney and Mathew Finucane accepted the cup of behalf of the team. U-16 County League : Commiserations to the Tarbert Moyvane U-16 team who lost by the minimum of margins against a fancied Finuge side in the County League Division 6 final last Wednesday. The combination side got off to a great start with Niall Haugh rattling the net after one minute before Finuge responded with a goal and three points and looked like taking control of the game with another goal and two points to lead 2-5 to 1-0 after fifteen minutes. Tarbert Moyvane made some key positional switches which seemed to settle the side and an individual goal by Tadgh McEvoy and points by Paddy Callaghan and Micheal Fogarty left the score at half time 2-9 to 2-4. An early goal by Finuge seemed to once again revive the combination side and two goals from Niall Haugh made for an exciting finish. Points by Tadgh McEvoy, Paddy O’Callaghan and Micheal Fogarty put Tarbert Moyvane up two points entering the final minute but a break up the field and an excellent shot at goals gave Finuge victory on a scoreline of 4-9 to 4-8. Great credit is due to both teams on an excellent game of football with all Tarbert Moyvane players putting in a huge effort in their best performance so far this year.
