North Kerry Novice Championship Final

Brosna B emerged victorious against a spirited Ballylongford B outfit last Saturday week on a scoreline of 4-07 to 0-06. The first half was a disappointing one form a Brosna point of view, conceding possession too easily around the middle and unable to put together any meaningful attacks with the exception of one that resulted in Stephen McAuliffe crashing the first of his three goals to the Ballylongford net. Indeed it was this goal along with some poor shooting from Ballylongford and an outstanding display from Brosna stopper Rick O Rourke that contributed to there only being 3 points between the teams at the break.

Upon resumption Brosna notably upped the tempo all over the field with Killian Fitzmaurice defying all comers in the full back line, Dan Fitzgerald, Gerard Nash and Kieran Horan rampant from the half back line and Tadgh Leahy rolling back the years at midfield. With this platform established and Stephen McAuliffe channelling his inner Gooch Cooper with a hat trick of goals Ballylongford were unable to live with this Brosna side, running out convincing winners by 13 points. Tomas Prendiville, captain of the side, accepted his second trophy of the year as Brosna completed an historic league and championship double.
