ASDEE  2-05   FINUGE  1-12A fine crowd turned up in Frank Sheehy Park, Listowel for this first round game, under lights, last Wednesday night.A minute's silence was observed prior to commencement in memory of Paul Wallace and Mattie Quinn..On  a cold evening, this game took a while to warm up.The score was 4pts to 2pts in Asdee's favour after 26mins, when Eoin Kennedy netted soccer style to put his side 5pts to the good, before Gary Hogan pointed his side's third free of the half on the stroke of half-time to leave the scoreboard Asdee 1-04  Finuge  0-03. There was a whiff of an upset in the air and little changed in the first ten mins of the second half as both sides exchanged points, another free from Hogan and a lovely long range effort from Asdee's captain, John Doran.Finuge had not scored from play at this stage, but they exploded to life in the next four minutes scoring 1-03 without reply,  all from play(Darragh Shanahan 1-00,Jason Wallace 0-02,Ricky Heffernan 0-01).Eoin Tydings fisted a high dropping ball to the net in the 16th minute to restore Asdee's lead but they were not to score again as Finuge finished strongly, led by the excellent Pat Corridan, scoring 5pts in the last 10 mins to become the seventh team in the hat for the Q/F draw. The final score was Asdee 2-05  Finuge  1-12Referee: Peter Curtin  BrosnaSCORERS: ASDEE: Eoin Kennedy 1-01, Eoin Tydings 1-00, Darragh Keane 0-02, Mike Breen 0-01, John Doran 0-01, FINUGE: Gary Hogan 0-05, Darragh Shanahan 1-01, Pat Corridan 0-02, Jason Wallace 0-02, Ricky Heffernan 0-01, Raymond Galvin 0-01.

Report by Mairead O Sullivan St Senans 2.15 v Listowel Emmets 1.15 (A.E.T)This game was played on Sunday last in Mountcoal, with the pitch in perfect condition, thank you to St Senans GAA for the stewarding of parking, the refreshments and young singer Paul Somers opening proceedings with the National Anthem.  The game started at a blistering pace with both sides lining out young teams, it took until the 4th minute before the scoreboard started to tick over with a Senans free converted by Sean O'Connell, in quick reply the Emmets freetaker Conor Cox  responded converting to draw level.  Senans took control of the play at this stage and the next three scores came from Sean O'Connell (1f) and David Foran (1.01) to bring  the homeside five points up.  Emmets were trying hard but the results weren't coming it took until the 16th minute for the only scorer for Emmets Conor Cox in the first half to kick start the fight back adding a further five points before the half time whistle four from frees, to finish the half Senans David Behan split the posts to go in a point up.

Second half and Emmets came out the blocks driving forward playing into the Tralee side goals Emmets added 1.02 within 3 minutes Conor Cox (1.01) and wingback Ger McCarty ( 0.1), in the 10th minute Bryan Sweeney Emmets added a further point to bring his side five points the better. It took the Senans men until the 9th minute for Sean O'Connell to covert an awarded free again in the 12th minute O'Connell convert a free , but it was Senans second goal for David Foran that closed the gap in the 17th minute of the second half in quick reply Emmets Conor Cox converted an awarded free in the 19th minute with two more points added by Noel Kennelly and Eddie Browne   , it was Senans full forward line that stole the show with four points between them from the 25th to the 36th minutes Paudie Quille 0.1 and Sean O'Connell 0.3pt 0.1f . With Senans a point up it was Emmets sharp shooter Conor Cox that equalised to bring the game to extra time in the 38th minute. With eight yellow cards and two red cards already handed out to both teams it was time to regroup and start again.

Extra Time

Extra time was a slower paced affair with both sides carrying heavy legs, but the Senans men just shaded it on the hunger front first half and it was two points from play for Emmets a point a piece for Sam Tarrant and Noel Kennelly, in contrast Senans first half points came from three free's converted by Sean O'Connell.  Second half of extra time and Emmets failed to add anything to the score board while Seans a point up added a further two points both from play from the boot of Sean Weir. Senans now go on to the Quarter Finals.

BALLYDUFF  4-12    EMMETS  3-05

A fine crowd turned up to Con Brosnan Park, Moyvane for our U-16 Championship Final on Sunday morning last. This fine Ballyduff team had an enviable record coming into the game of having never lost a game in North Kerry Coiste-na-nOg competitions but Emmets who had only gone down by a point in the League semi-final earlier in the year, were determined to do their best to upset the odds.Seamus Mulvihill threw the ball in and it was Ballyduff who started the best and indeed dominated the play throughout the first half. All present were treated to a virtuoso performance from Ballyduff captain, Kevin Goulding. In a phenomenal display of accuracy, he kicked 1-10 of his side's first half tally of 1-11, the other point coming from Dylan Moriarty.Emmet's scored 1-01 in the half, the point from Jack McElligott and a great goal scored by Niall Lynch after a lovely move.

Emmets made several changes at the interval but Ballyduff continued where they left off and had the ball in the net twice inside the opening 5mins, through Kevin Goulding and the diminutive Tommy O' Connor to put clear distance between the sides. It would have been easy for Emmets to throw in the towel at this point but to their credit, they refused to stop playing, and were to score 2-03 in the next 20mins, while keeping Ballyduff scoreless.Niall Lynch goaled again, points from Darragh Lynch,Darragh Carey and Cillian Rodriguez and a well taken penalty by Dylan Quinn left 7pts between the sides. This was as close as Emmets would get as Aidan O' Connor netted for Ballyduff and Andrew Murphy pointed before Darragh Lynch pointed the last score of the game to leave the final score at Ballyduff  4-12  Emmets  3-05.

Tom Moran NKB thanked McElligott Oils Asdee for their generous sponsorship of Coiste-na-nOg, Moyvane for their fine facility and Seamus Mulvihill, St. Senans and officials for doing a great job, before presenting Ballyduff captain Kevin Goulding with the U-16 NKC'ship trophy to scenes of delight. Well done on a remarkable achievement.
