Kerry Senior Team

It all started very brightly this year in the Allianz Football Leagues for what is a very young Kerry team, with wins over Donegal and  Mayo in the first two rounds. But the third round game an away game to Monaghan was called off due to unplayable pitch on the first day and the second day Monaghan took maximum points from Kerry  and on Sunday last a home game played in Austin Stack Park seen the Kerry train come of the rails for the second week with Galway opening up the defence like butter on several occasions only for goalkeeper Brendan Kealy to pull off at least two point blank saves, to keep the scoreboard looking somewhat respectable at the end, but if Kerry are to reach an Allianz League Final for 2018 maximum points are need in the last three games, this will be no easy task as next Saturday night will see the Kingdom take on Dublin in Croke Park. From the North Kerry Football Board Shane Enright Tarbert, Jason Foley and Brain O Seanachain Ballydonoghue.

Division 1 A Round 5

St Senans 3.07 v Beale 1.07

Senans entertained Beale in a breezy Mountcoal, Senans attacked from the throw in but failed to score, from Beale's first attack  Danny Quilter  was called on to make a fantastic save and the opening score came after four minutes from a Beale free. Beale then rattled the Senans net  with a quickly taken free and Sean O’Connell registered Senans first point from a free. Beale converted five further frees and Senans added three points for a halftime score of 1-06 to 0-04. In the opening minutes of the second half Beale scored a point and Senans replied with points from  a 45 and a free, then David Foran hit the Beale net leaving Senans trailing by a point mid-way through second half. Two further goals from David Behan and Eoin O’Connell gave Senans a comfortable lead but Beale continued to attack with Danny Quilter making some super saves in the dying minutes.

Division 1B Round 3

Castleisland Desmonds 1.23 v Ballydonoghue 0.10

Listowel Emmets 1.10 v Finuge 1.10

On a bitterly cold evening, Emmets and Finuge shared the spoils after a physical but sporting game of football in Frank Sheehy Park.

The visitors started brightly kicking the first score of the game before wing forward Jack Wall got Emmets on the board as both sides proceeded to exchange scores all the way up to the half-time whistle, with David Keane, Tom McCarthy and a second point from Jack Wall keeping the home side in touch. Ger Lovett and Pat Corridan were showing well for Finuge and a Gary Hogan goal ensured a three point lead for them at half time. The second half was all about Finuge as they pulled away into a 6 point lead before the Emmets sideline made some important changes introducing the likes of Conor Cox and Cormac Mulvihill who pulled their team back in to the game. As we approached the full time whistle it was the aforementioned Cox that rescued the game for Listowel with a well taken goal in what was a replay of what happened last week against Desmonds. Emmets will be happy with how they fought back having being so far behind and this bodes well for the lads as they lined out with a young and somewhat inexperienced team. Final score in Listowel, Emmets 1-10 Finuge 1-10

Emmets: S Quinn, D Breen, G McCarthy, T Melvin, N Collins, N Kennelly, C Keane, JJ Grimes, T McCarthy, J Wall, D Keane, S Tarrant, L Moloney, S Gilbert, B Sweeney
