Beale GAA   11/04/2022

We’ve opened our account in County League, Division 4. Beale seniors’ trip to Cordal was worthwhile on Saturday evening when we came away with two valuable points in the third round. Goals were the order of the day, and we were indeed unlucky not to get two more in the first half.

A re-energised and more focussed team, we dominated during a slick first half which saw us three points ahead at the short whistle, 1-6 to 0-6. A bad mistake in our defence early in the second half ended in a goal to level the game and brought Cordal back into it.

However, we controlled the game, despite been reduced to fourteen men on two occasions with a black card and a red card. We added three more goals, one from the penalty spot, and some delightful points. Our backs soaked up the pressure, especially in the closing stages. While our opponents got a rather questionable goal, it only put a minor dent in the overall score line and we came away victorious on a score of 4-12 to 2-13.

Beale team: Seán Dee, John Griffin, Shane Joy, Jack O’Sullivan, Fionnán Toomey, Jeremy King, Seamie O’Sullivan, Philly Blake, Diarmuid O’Mahony, Conor Toomey, Robert Stack, Barry O’Neill, Ian Mannix, Neilus Mulvihill and Ger O’Gorman. Substitutes, Podge Holly, Tom Joy, Callum McSweeney, Tommy O’Neill, Rory Mulvihill, Seán Maloney, Daithí Toomey and Philip Hornyak.

We will be hopeful that home advantage will pay dividends when we play our next three games in Páirc de Staic. On April 24th, we host Scartaglin and then, in May, we play host to Duagh and Knocknagoshel.

We play St Senans in the semi-final of the North Kerry League, Division 1. Details to be confirmed. Tarbert are our opponents in the opening round of Group 3 of the County Junior Club Championship. We await details.

Best of luck to the Beale lads and their teammates when Ballyduff play Ardfert in the semi-final County Minor League, Division 2, on Monday evening (April 11th). Throw-in 6.30 in Ardfert.
