Beale GAA   28/09/2020

Beale seniors are in training for not just one but two semi-finals. We play the County Junior Club Championship semi-final on Sunday and evening have secured a semi-final spot in the North Kerry Championship.

Played in ideal sunny conditions on Saturday afternoon in Duagh, we were to the fore for most of the first half of the North Kerry Championship quarter final against Knocknagoshel. We were two points to the good at the first water break and again at the short whistle. And when it counted at the final whistle, we had a two-point advantage, 2-14 to 2-12.

We registered five points before Knocknagoshel got on the scoreboard in the ninth minute and then found then net from the resulting poor clearance. They added a further point to draw level. A great upfield movement from the square ended in a well- taken point, giving us a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The teams went onto exchange points and indiscipline crept in. Our opponents caught up with us again to draw level but we kicked over two more before the interval and went in 0-10 to 1-5 to the good.

We raised the green flag from the throw-in. Again Knock hit back, scoring three points to cancel out our goal. We moved fast ball upfield and raised the green flag in the tenth minute. At the water break, we had a commanding lead of 2-12 to 1-8. But on resumption, complacency set in and we were slow to move the ball out of defence. Knock duly punished us with a goal and went on to add on a further two points.

We steadied the ship again, sending over points. Knock tried desperately to make amends, but we held on to secure our semi-final spot. We look forward to the draw for the semi-final pairings which will will be streamed live on 24/7 TV and also on the North Kerry Board Facebook page directly after the game between Desmonds and Ballyduff on Saturday evening.
