Beale GAA   02/03/2020

We shared the spoils with Brosna in Division 1A of the North Kerry League on Sunday. Playing conditions were relatively good considering the recent spell of bad weather. In a keenly contested game, we went in at the interval two points to the good, 1-2 to 0-3.

We kept our noses in front on the changeover and raised the green flag to stretch our lead. However, Brosna replied immediately and rattled the net at our end. We had a 2-point advantage with just five minutes on the clock and our opponents eroded our lead to draw level as the clock ticked. In a nail-biting finish we hung on and the final score read: Beale, 2-5; Brosna 1-8. We needed a win to keep hopes of a semi-final spot alive. With just four points on the table, our campaign in the league has come to an end.

Our attention focusses on the County League. We contest Division 4, with our first game on Sunday, when we host Fossa in Páirc de Staic at 2 o’clock. We then travel to Tarbert the following weekend. Round 3 will be played in mid-May when we host Finuge and we travel to Castlegregory the weekend after. Other teams in this division are Lispole, Firies, Scartaglin, Skellig Rangers, Renard, Knocknagoshel and Waterville.

Our seniors contest Group 2 of the County Junior Club Championship with our first game against Cordal in Ballybunion. Other teams in this group are Scartaglin and Valentia.

Beale minors’ match has fallen foul of the poor weather yet again. Our County League, Division 5, game against Milltown/Castlemaine has been postponed. We play host to Emmetts on Saturday with a 3 o’clock throw-in. We then travel to Mountcoal the following weekend to play St Senans. We await details of our postponed games against Finuge and Milltown/Castlemaine. Our final round game will be against Annascaul/Lispole/Dingle at the end of March in Ballybunion.

We had planned that club representatives would call to houses in the parish to give everyone an opportunity to buy an Annual Lotto ticket. We have now changed plans and instead we extend an open invitation to everyone to come to Páirc de Staic to view our recent development and up to date facilities. Everyone will have an opportunity to have a look around  the clubhouse to see the fruits of club fundraising in recent years. We have yet to finalise a date for this open evening. Club membership and Annual Lotto tickets will be also be on sale then.

From our first draw in April (Sunday 5th), we are increasing the Lotto numbers from 1-28 to 1-32, in line with the majority of other local lottos. Anyone who wishes to change their Annual Lotto numbers please email bealegaalotto@gmail.com with Number Change in the subject line or contact your Annual Lotto ticket seller.
