ASDEE G A A

DIVISION 1 MINOR LEAGUE FINAL REPLAY

Asdee/Ballylongford/Ballydonoghue/Clounmacon 1=10     Beale 1-12

A Man of the match performance from Eric Daly who accounted for 1-7 of his sides tally closely followed by Conor Twomey helped Beale to regain the North Kerry Division 1 Minor League title after a 35 year wait at the Jackie Finnerty Park, Mountcoal on Thursday evening last. Certainly this eagerly awaited replay lived up to all expectations with the result hanging in the balance right up to the sound of Seamus Mulvihills final whistle The game itself was end to end from the first minute with some fine scores been kicked by both sides. The first half points were exchanged but with some bad wides been kicked especially by the combined team and with Beale taking their scoring chances when presented; they went in at the break up by 3points.
Half-time score Beale 0-8 ABB 0-5
The second half started with Beale getting the first 3 points and looked like running away with the game but a stirring comeback by the combined team which started by Brendan O'Neill hitting the net and with 3 unanswered points the game was level with 10minutes to play; 1=8 to 0=11 and at that stage it was anyone match. Beale had other ideas and when Eric Daly won possession in midfield he brought the ball forward with pace dodging several would be tackles to billow the net from close range; this knocked the wind out of the combined teams efforts and, even though they never gave up it was not enough as the Seasiders had that little bit extra in the tank and when the final whistle blew it was Beale who finished champions by a 2pts, margin. For the combined team Shea Doran, Gavin Stack Brendan Keane, Jack Kennelly and Brendan O'Neill tired their best. Beale had Eric Daly, Conor Twomey, Padraig O Rourke,,Luke Donovan and Barry O Neill in top form. Scorers; Beale; Eric Daly, 1-7, Barry O Neill, 2pts, Luke O Donovan and Conor Twomey, 1pt each; for ABBC; Jack Kennelly, 5pts, Brendan O Neill. 1-1,Micheal Nolan, 3pts, James Donegan, 1pt. After the game Chairman of the North Kerry Board; Johnny Stack was on hand to present Beale captain, Diarmuid O Mahony with the winning trophy amid great scenes of jubilation amongst players and supporters.
