RESULTS
Co. Senior League Division 3 - Round 6
Emmets 2-09 Currow 0-09

Last Saturday evening our seniors entertained Currow in round 6 of the County League. It was a must win game to stay in the hunt for a promotion place and they duly obliged. Sam Tarrant opened the scoring for the home side after two minutes with some good work from Jamie McVeigh. Pa McCarthy responded with Currow's first score of the game after a good solo run through the Emmets half back line. Emmets enjoyed a good spell of possession shortly after and Joe Joe Grimes fired over one of the scores of the game after a superb run through the Currow defense to split the posts much to the delight of the home support. Their backs put in a great shift and kept the Currow fowards very quite in the first half with great defending in particular from Ciaran Pierse and Tom Melvin. David Keane and Sam Tarrant added two more points for Listowel before they were awarded a penalty and Joe Joe Grimes slotted it past Shane O'Leary to put them in the driving seat going in at half time leading 1-05 to 0-06. Sam Tarrant got Emmets first score of the second half with a great point off the right. Pa McCarthy and Dan O'Shea brought Currow back into it with two points from play but they couldn't pin back the home side. Darragh Leahy added a superb score after making a great run from wing back and minutes later Ger McCarthy sealed the victory rounding Shane O'Leary to give Emmets a 6 point cushion and to ultimately ensure the two points. Final score 2-09 to 0-9
