Emmets 1-13 Ballydonoghue 1-08

Last Sunday our seniors contested the Division 1 North Kerry League Final against Ballydonoghue which was held in Stack Park Ballybunion. Jack Kennelly opened the scoring after just one minute of play. Straight after Eddie Browne made a run through the Ballydonoghue defence and gave the ball to Jamie McVeigh who cooly slotted past Dara O Sé to settle the nerves for the Emmets men. Ballydonoghue responded quickly with points from Jack Foley and Thomas Kennelly, while the excellent Sam Tarrant and Cormac Mulvihill kept the scoreboard ticking for Listowel. The town men went in at half-time leading 1-6 to 0-6.

Ballydonoghue started the second half the strongest thanks to Jack Foley who managed to catch Cathal Keane off his line and chipped in over him for a goal. Jamie McVeigh got his second point of the game along with Cormac Mulvihill after some poor Emmets shooting saw them miss five scoring opportunities on the bounce. Ballydonoghue kept coming forward but Tom McCarthy and Eddie Browne were there to clear their lines as Emmets were always in control in the final quarter. Shane Quinn came on and kicked the final score of the game giving Listowel the win on a score-line of 1-13 to 1-08. Tom McCarthy claimed the man of the match award after a brilliant display at wing back as Sam Tarrant, Cormac Mulvihill and Joe Joe Grimes all played very well. This is a young Emmets team with a bright future and their management will be happy following a very composed performance.
