ASDEE G A A

CREDIT UNION COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE, DIVISION 5.

Asdee  1-9    Rathmore “B”  1-5

Played at Walsh Park the home side had a hard earned win against the East Kerry side who in fairness had the bigger amount of possession, kicked 13 wides in total but a late rally from Asdee with  Darragh Keane on target just edged out Rathmore for victory. The visitors got in to their stride from the throw in and Padraig O Mahony popped over a neat point after 2 minutes. At this stage the play was from end to end but Rathmore were off target while the home side led by Paul O Carroll ; was a thorn in the visitors throughout and who found the net in the 16th minute with his 2 points having come earlier and Asdee led 1-2 to 0-1. However points were exchanged with Padraig O Mahony and Stephen Linnane for the visitors and Darren Russell and a Paul O Carroll free for the home side leaving it at the break; Asdee 1-4 to 0-3. Within 3 minutes on resumption Rathmore had drawn level; their goal coming from Dean Fitzgerald after 5 minutes after a blunder in the Asdee rearguard, Padraig O Mahony added the point to level the tie up. The final quarter was probably when the better  football was played and even though Rathmore was wastefull it was nip and tuck.  Eoin Tydings  and Paul O Carroll had Asdee ahead by two in the 16th minute only for Padraig O Mahony to narrow the gap once more 3 minutes later. Mike Breen restored Asdees tally to 2 after a great run from his wing back position. 2 minutes remaining and Asdee had the chance to put the game out of reach when they were awarded a penalty but the usually reliable Eoin Tydings hit the butt of the post and the ball was cleared to safety. Still with the bit between their teeth Darragh Keane with 2 late late points in injury time sealed the win. Both Padraig O Mahony, 1 4 and Stephen Lehane were excellent in attack while Darragh Cronin and Brian Reen excelled in defence. Asdee had Darragh Keane, Darren Russell, Eoin Kennedy, Mike Breen along with Man of the Match Paul O Carroll in great form. Team and Scorers; James Kelly, Con Carmody, Martin Collins, Conor Keane, Shay Doran, John Doran, Mike Breen, 1pt, Darragh Keane, 2pts, Jack Keane, Paul O Carroll, 1-4, (2f), Sean Keane, Darren Russell, 1pt, Stephen Lynch, Eoin Tydings, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy. Substitute; Kieran Kelly for Stephen Lynch. Keith McNamara, Dinny Dalton, Jack Collins.

.STARS IN THEIR EYE

We’ve just about recovered from our “Stars in Their Eyes”Club Fundraiser held in the Community Centre where it was a fantastic night of entertainment & fun enjoyed by a full house.
On behalf of St. Marys, Asdee G A A we want to thank everyone for their support, help, work & sponsorship. A special thank you to all the  acts who were outstanding on the night & for their effort beforehand. Every one of our acts played an absolute blinder, and all were hugely worthy of the praise they received.  In truth, all acts were worthy of winning
The support from the Asdee community & people around North Kerry has been unreal.
M.C. on the night was Tim Moynihan of  Terrace Talk and Radio Kerry Fame and the  Judges were Murt Murphy, Michelle Costello & Tony Moore who provided great value throughout the night with their comments which went down a treat; and all added to the enjoyment on the occasion.
However, one man deserves special mention; not alone this year but for the past 3 years of   this venture; for the  huge amount of time and effort he has put in to the organising of this very successful Fundraising event; his many talents on the football field are widely known but let us remind you it dosent end there; and the former Kerry Minor Footballer Eoin Kennedy let us all know and not for the first time that he is a man of many talents. Take a bow Eoin Kennedy.
