CREDIT UNION COUNTYFOOTBALL LEAGUE.

Division 5 of the Credit Union County Football Leagues getsunderway this weekend and with 5 extra “B” teams coming in to this Division itwill mean that there will be 2 Groups; Group “A” which will have 10 teams  competing ; Sneem/Derrynane, Scartaglin,Ballyduff, Beale, Dingle “B”, Miltown/Castlemaine “B”, Kerins O Rahillys “B”,Kenmare Shamrocks “B”, Dr. Crokes “C” Tuosist; while Asdee will be in Group “B”(11) teams) along with John Mitchels “B” Austin Stacks “B”, Cromane, Kilgarvan,Beaufort “B”, Killarney Legion “B”, Knocknagoshel, Moyvane, Rathmore “B” andBallylongford. Im sure there are a lot of ambitions for all sides involved withteams  looking to recreate former glorylike; Beale, Ballylongford, Cromane, Scartaglin and Moyvane who would befavourites to be in the running for promotion and to get out of this BacementDivision. However its not all about the already mentioned Clubs as Asdee alsohave promotion prospects and why not; they are well capable of holding theirown and beating any of those clubs which they have done in the past. In factlast year they reached the quarter final stages only to be defeated  by Valentia who went on to gain promotion. Theyhave prepaired very well; their progress to date in the North Kerry League isimpressive to say the least; loosing by a single point to Duagh while victoriesover Ballyduff and Moyvane have propelled them to within striking distance ofthe knockout stages of the competition. Certainly the tie of the round will bethe meeting of fellow parishioners Ballylongford and Asdee and in recentclashes the Bally boys have come out at the right side of the bargain and ofcourse will be going in as favourites to get their County League season off ona winning note. Still the boys from the Eastern side of the parish will have nofears and will be going all out to put one over on their great rivals; the realbeauty of this encounter is that almost all Asdee players have played all theirunderage football with Bally in both County and North Kerry which will add tothe occasion. Even though i suppose like most Clubs Asdee have lost a fewprominent players to immigration and a few that saw fit to transfer to theopposing club may i add; but on the bright Asdee can welcome back DarrenRussell after a few seasons away and Con Carmody after a short lay-off  and this year we saw the introduction tosenior football of Shay Doran, Jack Collins and Stephen Lynch who have beenvery impressive to date. Without doubt our Management team of John Kennedy,Mike “Tricky” Enright, Dan Dalton and Sean Doran will leave no stone unturnedin the Clubs bid for not alone victory on Sunday but also  promotion. So an exciting day ahead whichshould attract a good sized attendance to Jack Walsh, Park Asdee on this Sundayat 2pm.

GOLDEN GOAL

Week 5 winners in our Fundraisers”Golden Goal”  were; Fergus O Connor, Craughdarrig, Asdeeand Matt Joe Lynch, Lahesrough Ballybunion. This is in conjunction withupcoming Fixtures in both National Football and Hurling Leagues andChampionship; (Televised games). Tickets are now available and will be on saleeach week for the duration of both National League and Championship from Clubmembers and at the usual outlets; “Jack Jays” Bar and John Pius at E2 each withE40 to be given out each week to the winning number that corresponds with thefirst goal scored.

QUIZ

The County Finals of Scor Sinsear in Quiz; ispencilled in for this Friday March 8^th with a starting time of 7pm.This discpline has been changed for the past few years where now all Clubs inthe County will come together with the outright winner on the evening goingforward to the All Ireland Finals which will take place this year in the“Travellers Friend” Theatre, Castlebar, County Mayo on Saturday April 13^th.

SCOR. 

The North Kerry Finals of Scor Na bPaisti where Parishrule applies will take place in the Marian Hall, Moyvane on this Sunday March10^th commencing at 2pm. The local Club are already preparing for theevent and will be competing in the majority of the discplines.

MINORS.Minors play in Division 3 “B” of the County League. All games 4pm. First nameteams having home advantage.

In the Kerry Petroleum Junior Club ChampionshipAsdee are in Group 2 along with Beale and Reenard and are paired againstMoyvane in Round 1 at Con Brosnan Park and is pencilled to start on SundayMarch 31^st.
