SCOR NA NOG CRAOBH CEANNAIS NA hEIREANN 2019.

 

A very special year to be competing at All Ireland Finallevel as we celebrate 50 years of Scor and a huge occasion for the families ofthe four Kerry Clubs who willbe representing their respective Clubs, County and Provence at this year ScorNa Nog  Craobh Na hEireann Finals which willbe staged.  at the “Travellers Friend”,Theatre, Castlebar County Mayo on Saturday next February 16th

 

The Clubs that have made it to the All Ireland Finals; Dr.Crokes , East Kerry Board will cross swords with the remaining 31 Counties inthe Quiz; 

 

Spa, East Kerry Board will go in as reigning All Ireland Scor Na Nog Set Dancing champions andhoping to make it a 3-in-a-row of National Titles. 

 

Na Gaeil, Tralee/St. Brendans Board  will be appearing in their second  All Ireland Final in a row at Scor Na nOg inLeiriu.

 

Martin Larkin in the Solo Singing will be flying the flagfor Sneem 

 

The daysproceedings will be getting under way at 11am with the Quiz and here we haverepresenting the East Kerry Board; Dr. Crokes and they will be represented by; CillianHickey,Treasa O Sullivan, Ben Flavin and Teddy Muldoom. Having previously been unsuccessful in thiscategory last year they will be striving to turn the tables this time around 

and bringthe first Trath Na gCeist National Title to the Club.

 

Our secondrepresentative is in Solo Singing and here we have Martin Larkin and on hisperformances to date he will be up there with the best and will be hoping tobring a  National Scor Title to thepicturesque Village of Sneem. 

 

 Likewise Na Gaeil from the Tralee/St. BrendansBoard will be aiming to create history for their club by claiming that elusiveAll Ireland Title in the Leiriu discpline. Their line up will be Aoife NiShuilleabhain, Aine Ni Shuilleabhain, Isabelle Ni Chonchra, Emily Ni Chonchra,Joshua De Roiste, Dearbhla Ni Chuirc, Ruairi O Reen, Grainne Ni Chuirc.

 

 Coming to the last catagory of the daysproceedings and here we have the Spa Set Dancers who certainly are no strangersto winning All Ireland Titles in Dancing having previously won in 2014, 2017,2018 and this year will be all out to win the treble of Dancing titles .Representingthe Spa Set Dancers will be ; Erin Holland, Orlaith Spillane, Eleana ODonoghue, Aoife O Donoghue, Garry O Sullivan, Cian O Sullivan, Dara Brosnan,Diarmuid O Donovan.

 

On behalfof everybody in Scor Chiarrai we wish all competitors and their Tutors the bestof luck and lets hope we will be celebrating further All Ireland glory later onSaturday evening.

 

SCOR CHIARRAI SCOR SINSEAR.

The County Finals “Estuary,Printand Trophies, Ballylongford” Sponsored County 

Finals of Scor Sinsear Chiarrai were heldin the Marian Hall Moyvane on Friday evening   last February 8th.  Seven District Boards took part; East Kerry,West Kerry, North Kerry Football, North Kerry Hurling, South Kerry, Mid Kerry,Tralee/St. Brendans. When proceedings got under-way an excellent Fear A Ti, P JMulvihill introduced the Solo Singing category and from there to the finalevent of the evening in the Set Dancing competition; the good sized audiencewere treated to a tremendous evenings entertaintment. Then when theadjudicators made their final deliberations the following were the winners onthe night; 

 

 Solo Singing, Proinnsias O Cathasaigh, WestKerry Board, 

Recitation.Sonny Egan, North Kerry Hurling, 

BalladGroup, St. Marys, South Kerry Board,

 Leiriu, Ballydonoghue, North Kerry Football,

 Instrumental Music, St,Marys, South KerryBoard.

 Set Dancing Gneeveguille, East Kerry, Board.

 

The “LeeStrand Perpetual Shield” for the Overall Club on the night was accepted byCultural Officer Aoife Daly on behalf of St. Marys, South Kerry Board.

 

 The Cathaoirleach  Coiste Scor Chairrai,  Criostior O Cillin in his address wasdelighted with the nights activities and stated that the talent on show was oftop quality. He went on to thank everybody present, the competitors and theirtutors, Marian Hall Committee, Ger Mangan on the Sound,  Sponsor, Estuary Print, Ballylongford, ourexcellent Fear a Ti, P J Mulvihill who came in at short notice and anybody whohelped in any way to make the night a huge success. 

The Cathaoirleachon behalf of “Estuary Print and Trophies”Ballylongford,was on hand to presentthe winners with their medals  and aseach winning combination came forward they received a great ovation fromeverybody present. 

All thewinners on the night will now go forward to the  Munster Semi Final involving, Kerry,Waterford,Clare and Cork at the Community Centre, Ovens, County Cork on February 23rd,6pm where 2 will qualify from each catagory and go on to take part in a MunsterFinal going ahead in the City Hall Cork on Saturday March 2nd
