BERNARD O' CALLAGHAN MEMORIAL SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP SPONSORED BY McMUNN'S BAR AND RESTAURANT BALLYBUNION.

Moyvane  2-10  Ballydonoghue  5-15

Holders Ballydonoghue had the ball in the net twice inside the opening two minutes of their first round clash with Moyvane on Saturday last, to advertise clearly their bid for the three-in-a-row.Lining out without Jason Foley,Eamon Walsh and Martin O' Mahony they were too strong for the home side on a wet, miserable day.The half-time score read Moyvane 1-05  Ballydonoghue  3-07.Moyvane did reduce the gap to 5pts 10mins into the second half as they tried all they knew to turn the tide but the pace and the clinical finishing by Ballydonoghue was too much. The full-time score was Moyvane  2-10  Ballydonoghue  5-15.  Scorers: Moyvane: Martin Stack 2-05 Colin Enright 0-03 Owen Stack 0-01 Niall Mulvihill 0-01.  Ballydonoghue:  Paul Kennelly 1-08 Darragh Sheehy 3-00 Jack Foley 1-03 Conor Kennelly 0-01 Jack Behan 0-01 Micheal Foley 0-01 Brian Mason 0-01.

Referee: Stephen Mulvihill Ballylongford.

Ballyduff  1-22     Beale   4-09

2018 finalists Ballyduff needed extra-time to overcome a very determined Beale side on Sunday last before a big crowd in Ballyduff. The sun shone as both teams responded to the urgings of their supporters and they served up a great contest of Championship football. The first half was all about goals.Barry O' Mahony goaled for Beale in the 7th minute and Jack Goulding likewise for the home side 5mins later to leave the score Ballyduff 1-04 Beale 1-03.Jack Goulding was then shown a red card and Beale took full advantage for the remainder of the half, scoring 3-01 to Ballyduff's 3pts.The Beale goals came from a belter to the roof of the net by Cormac Linnane,a cheeky lob from Tom Joy and a penalty scored by Darragh Buckley.Crucially though, Beale picked up two black cards in the closing the mins of the half, by Fintan Linnane and James McMahon..The half-time score read Ballyduff 1-07  Beale 4-04.The home side had the wind at their backs in the second half and, having organized themselves at the break, set about chasing down the 6pt deficit. They were to score 10pts in the half from the boots of Mikey Boyle(5),Padraig Boyle(3) and Jack O' Sullivan(2).Beale could manage only 4pts in the same period, Cormac Linnane(1) and Darragh Buckley(3), one of which put Beale ahead in the 60th minute only to be equalized by Padraig Boyle in the 63rd min.A draw seemed the right result at the end of normal time on a scoreline of Ballyduff  1-17  Beale  4-08.

Ballyduff were restored to 15 men for extra-time and they added three points to their tally in the opening 10mins, Mikey Boyle(2) and their captain,Anthony O' Carroll(1). while Beale didn't register on the board. Ballyduff  1-20  Beale  4-08. Padraig Boyle pointed in the 72nd minute, young Sean Moloney replied for Beale in the 78th min, before Philip Lucid wisely fisted over the bar in the 79th min to send Ballyduff into the Quarter- Final. The final score was Ballyduff 1-22  Beale  4-09. The way Ballyduff went about their business in the second half, while down to 14 men, will please their supporters.Anthony O' Carroll,Cathal Kearney,Jack O' Sullivan,Padraig Boyle,Mikey Boyle all caught the eye but no-one did more than Paud Costelloe to take the fight to Beale,he was simply outstanding and along with young Jack O' Sullivan, make up a midfield pairing of the highest order..Beale were best served by Sean Dee,the excellent Fionnan Toomey,Padraig Holly,Paul Collins,Jeremy King, captain Philly Blake,Cormac Linnane and Darragh Buckley.

Referee: Eamonn Moran Ballydonoghue.

Scorers: Ballyduff: Mikey Boyle 0-11, Padraig Boyle 0-06, Jack Goulding 1-00, Jack O' Sullivan 0-02, Paud Costelloe 0-01, Anthony O' Carroll 0-01, Philip Lucid 0-01.  Beale: Darragh Buckley 1-03, Cormac Linnane 1-03, Barry O' Mahony 1-00, Tom Joy 1-00, Fionnan Toomey 0-01, Dan Ellis 0-01, Sean Moloney 0-01.
