Beale seniors came up short against Renard in round seven of the County Senior League, Division 4, in Ballybunion on Saturday evening. The teams exchanged points in the opening minutes. Then our opponents kicked 1-3 without reply and injuries to Pádraig Holly and Shane Joy early in the game put us under pressure. However, we hit back and went into the interval trailing 1-7 to 0-5.

Both teams started the second half at a fast pace, foraging for scores with both defences holding firm. We were first off the mark but Renard stretched their lead to seven points. We brought them back to within a goal but they added further points as the clock ticked away. The final score read 1-14 to 0-12.

Beale lined out as: Seán Dee, John M Horgan, Colm Kissane, Fionnán Toomey, Pádraig Holly, Shane Joy, Ian Mannix, Jeremy King, Philly Blake, Paul Collins, John Griffin, Jake O’Connell, James McMahon, Barry O’Mahony and Darragh Buckley. Substitutes: Callum McSweeney for Pádraig Holly (inj.), Daniel Hayes for Shane Joy (inj.), Rory Mulvihill, Colm Carolan, Philip Hornyak and Diarmuid O’Mahony.
