Beale GAA   26/02/2018

A rather disappointing week for Beale seniors, losing both our North Kerry League games. We succumbed to a stronger Brosna team on Thursday evening and yielded to St Senans on Sunday. John Mitchell’s pitch, Tralee, was the venue for our meeting with Brosna. Played in wet wintry conditions, we trailed by 0-8 to 0-2 at the short whistle. We put some good moves together on the changeover but found it difficult to hit the target while our defence was put under a lot of pressure at the other end. The final score read 1-4 to 1-15.

It looked like we were in the driving seat in Mountcoal on Sunday as we had a 5-point cushion at the interval, 1-6 to 0-4. However, we did not show in the second half and Senans took over. We managed to score just one point as our opponents chipped away at our lead and took control. We ended six points adrift at the final whistle, 3-7 to 1-7. With only one win out of four games, we end our North Kerry League campaign with just two points on the table.

Beale minors travel to Blennerville on Saturday to play St Patrick’s in round 2 of the County League, Division 4. Throw in at 4 o’clock. Then we travel to Spa on March 10th and host Beaufort on St Patrick’s weekend. Our last game will be on April 13th against Kilcummin in Páirc de Staic.

Division 4 of the senior County League begins on March 11th, when we travel to Baylongford for our first round game. We host Firies on March 25th and Skellig Rangers in April. Other teams in this division are Tarbert, Renard, Cromane, Fossa, Cordal, St Michael’s Foilmore, Firies, Gneeveguilla and Castlegregory.

Beale GAA extend every good wish to former Kerry minor, Cormac Linnane, who is training with the Kerry under-20 squad. We look forward to following Cormac wearing the green and gold when the competitons kick off in June.
