FIXTURES: Novice Cup Semi Finals Ballydonoghue C. play Brosna B Saturday 25th November at 3pm. in Duagh.

RESULTS: NKS Championship semi-final: Ballydonoghue 3-6. Brosna 1-12.

It may not quite have been a case of “snatching victory from the jaws of defeat” but by God it certainly felt like it, as we pulled off a Houdini like escape when we goaled in the last play of the match to draw level with Brosna in this NK C’Ship semi-final, and live to fight another day.

Brosna were by any stretch of the imagination the better team on the day and will certainly be wondering how they failed to win this game after being seven points ahead with as many minutes remaining.

But on saying that you have to give credit to Ballydonoghue for their never say die attitude and they stayed going right to the end and weren’t going to give up their title without a fight. In those final ten minutes they showed what they can do. Next time round they will have to start and continue as they finished if they have any hope of overcoming a very strong Brosna side that showed they weren’t All Ireland junior champions for nothing.

In a lack lustre performance from Ballydonoghue there were still some good displays. Darragh O’Shea in goals was certainly one. Stephen Lonergan in the back line, Kieran Lynch whose point in the second half kick started the fight back. Followed later by two inspirational points from Eamon Walsh. The hard working Brian O’ Seanacháin who scored two goals and was the one on the end of the ever dangerous Darragh Sheehy’s sweet lob into the square and just got the slightest of touches on the ball to decieve the Brosna keeper for the equaliser.

The game was screened live and viewed by many Ballydonghue, Brosna and North Kerry Diaspora.
