ASDEE G AA  Valentia v Asdee.  Credit Union County Senior Football LeagueDivision 5, Round 12 due to be played on Saturday June 24th atValentia did not go ahead. Asdee G A A looked for a postponement to this tiebut due to a mix up in communications between both parties; Asdee thinking thatthey had given a w/o was well wide of the mark as Valentia have now informedthe Club that they were never going to take the league points on offer and haveagreed to refix the game in the first or second week in September. On behalf ofthe club we apologise to the Valentia Young Islanders for any inconveniencecaused and hope our relations with the South Kerry Club will continue as always.

 

COUNTY LEAGUE. Asdee had a bye last weekend in the CreditUnion County Football League Division 5 and will resume on this SaturdayJuly15th at 7 30 pm; Round 8 with an away game to Knocknagoshel. 

 

North Kerry U14 League Ballydonoghue1 - 09 Asdee / Ballylongford 1 - 12 Asdee / Ballylongford followed on uplast week’s success against Tarbert with yet another one score margin victoryagainst Ballydonoghue. In contrast to the glorious sunshine of the previousMonday, this game was played in constant rain leading to tricky underfootconditions at Coolard. There was never more than a score between the teamsthroughout the whole game. Ballydonoghue got off to a powerful start kickingthree unanswered points. It took Asdee / Bally 10 minutes to get going beforethey responded with 1-1 to take the lead, Brendan Keane kicking our openingpoint and Oisin Healy scoring a wonderful goal. The teams traded points for theremainder of the half as Brendan Keane added a further three points along witha Liam Connolly effort to leave 2 points between the sides at half time. Halftime: Ballydonoghue 0 – 6 Asdee / Bally 1 - 05 Again Ballydonoghue started thehalf stronger and quickly turned a two point deficit into a two point lead scoring1-1 on the resumption. With a greasy ball and driving rain at this stage of thegame, scores were never going to be easily got. Our defence were on top for theremainder of the game with captain for the night Oran O’Neill and Mikey Hannonclearing any danger which came into the full back line. Adam Finucane was nowdominant at centre back flanked excellently by youngsters Jack Hannon andPatrick Mulvihill. Asdee / Bally outscored Ballydonoghue by seven points to twofor the remainder of the game with Christopher O’Donoghue, Brendan Keane andLiam Connolly kicking two each along with the closing point by Oisin Healy.This was an all-round team performance from Niall O’ Connors’ safe hands ingoals to the endless work around the middle from Paddy O’Neill and EthanMcDonald to the movement of Sean O’Connor in corner forward. UNDER 16s. Cordal/Scart  4-11 Asdee/Bally 7-8. Asdee/Bally Under 16 travelled to Cordal on Mondayevening last and came away with a very impressive victory over the localCordal/Scartaglin team in Division 7 of the County Football League, Round 2.

FUNDRAISER. U2/COLDPLAY TICKETS. 

Tickets have been on salefor the past number of weeks for our Fundraising Draw for two concerts whichwill be held in Croke Park and will be coming up shortly and on Friday nightlast at “Jack Jays” Bar in Asdee the club raffled off two tickets for eachconcert. All the proceedsfrom the draw will be going towards the development of our facilities at JackWalsh Park.; and thewinners of the two Premium Level tickets for the U2  Concert onSaturday July 22nd was CarolHurley, Tralee. Two Hogan Stand to Coldplay on Saturday July 8th winner wasKieran Walsh, Moyvane.

GOLDEN GOAL Week 23 winner of the Golden Goal was Mary O Donoghue, Asdee East,    which is in conjunction with upcoming Fixturesin both National Football and Hurling League and Championship. (Televised games)

Tickets are available and will be on saleeach week for the duration of the National League and  Championship from Club members and at theusual outlets; “Jack Jays” Bar, Post Office and John Pius at E2 each with E40to be given out each week to the winning number which corresponds with thefirst goal scored.

MINORCHAMPIONSHIP.  Shannon Rangers 2-8 Kerins O Rahillys 1-15.Played at Shannon Park, Tarbert on Thursday evening last Shannon Rangers weredefeated by Kerins O Rahillys in the Preliminary round of the Keanes SuperValue Minor County Championship. Players from the local Bally/Asdee wereinvolved.Shannon Rangers will now take part in the loosers round.
