Beale GAA   04/06/2017

Beale seniors lost out to a superior Dr Crokes  on Sunday in the County Senior League, Division 4. Played in ideal conditions in Páirc de Staic, the cross field breeze slightly favoured us in the first half. A great strike for goal in the opening minutes set the tone with nothing between the teams on the field of play and the minimum separated them at the interval, with Crokes edging by 8 points to 7.

Our opponents stepped up a gear on the changeover. Running at the Beale defence, they raised the green flag twice within ten minutes and it would have been three only for a great save. A rather flat second half ensued with a lot of stoppages. We were now on the back foot but       battled hard and set about closing the gap. However another goal sealed it for Crokes and the final score read 3-14 to 0-13.

It is a busy month of June for our seniors. We travel to Renard on Saturday evening for a 7.30 throw in and on June 18th, we host Duagh in Páirc de Staic at 3 o'clock. Our North Kerry Senior League game against Brosna has been rescheduled for June 25th at 2.30 in Brosna. We await details of quarter final of the County Novice Club Championship against Moyvane.

Beale juniors will host Kerins O'Rahilly's in Páirc de Staic at 7.30 in the County League, Group 8, on Friday, June 23rd. Then  on July 7th, we travel to Ardfert for our final round game. We await details of the final of the North Kerry Junior League, Division 4B, against Ballyduff.

With impending state examinations, the minors take a break from football for a few weeks. On June 26th, we kick off the North Kerry League, Division 2A, when we host  Knocknagoshel/Brosna in Ballybunion at 7.30. Ballydonoghue also contest this division.

Best of luck from Beale GAA to all sitting upcoming Leaving Cert and Junior Cert exams and to those awaiting results of college exams.

A great day for golfing enthusiasts as the sun shone on the beautiful Cashen course for the annual Beale GAA Golf Classic last Friday. Special thanks to Ballybunion Golf Club for making this superb venue available to us. To the teams and sponsors who took part on Friday and to all who have supported us over the years, míle buíochas. Without your support, the Golf Classic would not be such a great success.

Winners on the day were Stephen Galvin (captain), Jonathan Sheehan, Dermot Finnan and Enda Quads. Runners-up were last year's winners -  Eamon Fitzmaurice, Jodie Fitzmaurice, Pádraic Fitzmaurice and Tim Sheehan. Third place went to Brian Nash, Joe McMahon, Mike Sammon and John Devine. Prize for 'nearest the pin' went to Dot O'Gorman and the 'longest drive' was by Cormac Murphy.
