NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP.  Asdee  3-10    Moyvane 0-24.  Con Brosnan Park, Moyvanewas the venue for the clash of Moyvane and Asdee in a Preliminary Round of theCounty Novice Championship on Saturday evening last where the home side emergedvictorious by a 6pt margin in a game that saw 36 scores in all, played inchampionship fervour with the game hanging in the balance up till the finalwhistle. Moyvane got off to a flying start and had 4pts on the board by the 7^thminute with points coming from Shane Carmody, (2), Shane Stack and Martin Stackbefore Asdee opened their account after 10 minutes after a quick free kick wasdespatched over by Mike Breen. Another Asdee point followed from Kieran Kellyto cut the deficit. Up to this stage it Moyvane were having plenty possessionbut once Asdee settled the game opened up to see some great passages of fastopen football. The visitors got the tonic of a scrambled goal with Mike Breendirecting to the net after 12 minutes.to level up the tie that was to be levelon no fewer than 5 more occasions in this half. Shane Stack, Martin Stack andKieran Kelly exchanged points as play went from end to end. Mike Breen gaveAsdee the lead with a neat point and from here to the end of the half it wasnip and tuck. Again all the drama was reserved for the final minutes as CyrilDineen got on the end of a high delivery and punched to the net and EoinTydings driving his penalty over the bar. Colin Enright closed the first halfscoring with a point.  Martin Stack andShane Stack were dominant for Moyvane as was Cyril Dineen and Kieran Kelly forAsdee and at the break it was Moyvane 0-13 Asdee 2-7. On resumption it wasMoyvane who came prowling early and were unlucky with the ball coming off thepost but cleared to safety on both occasions inside the opening minutes. ShaneCarmody and Martin Stack added points with Eoin Tydings hitting the target forthe visitors. At this stage Moyvane were now enjoying plenty possession andadded 5 points without reply and leading 0-20 to 2-8 at the beginning of thefinal quarter. Still Asdee battled away and Eoin Tydings got in for 1-1 tonarrow the gap to just 2 points with 5 minutes remaining. However the home teamfinished the stronger and added points from, Martin Stack, Colin Enright.Overall a fantastic game of football and a credit to both teams for the mannerthey sportingly played the game. Moyvane now advance to play Beale for a placein the County Semi Final. Teams.
