Beale GAA   08/05/2017

Beale flags will be flying on Friday evening in Strand Road,Tralee, when we take on Castlegregory in the County Minor, Division 6, final at 7 o'clock. These teams could not be separated at the final whistle when they met earlier in the competition. So a cracker of a game is expected.

Beale GAA Club Day is on this Sunday, May 7th. For a day of novelty games, barbecue, craic and much more come along and join in the fun. A great day for the young and young at heart!

We defeated Knockanure in the North Kerry Junior League, Division 4B, on Thursday last on a score line of 4-14 to 0-8. We await details of our first round game of the County Novice Club Championship. Our North Kerry League game against Brosna was postponed at the weekend. The next round of the County League is on the June Bank Holiday weekend when we host Dr Crokes in Ballybunion.

Regrettably our annual social was cancelled earlier this year. If you have a ticket please return to person you purchased from for refund.

Beale GAA are saddened at the passing of Mike Shanahan who recently went to his eternal reward. Mike made his debut with St Patrick's GAA Club in the early 1970s, with his brother, Tommy. A lethal sharp shooting forward, Mike played a pivotal role in Beale's 3-in-row North Kerry Championships in the late 1970s. He helped Beale to victory in 1977 when, against all predictions, we were crowned North Kerry champions for the first time. Mike was scorer in chief in the 1978 final and his record of 2-6 scored in the 1979 final still stands today. Mike went on to play many more glory games in the green and red of his beloved club.

Winning many awards, he is also the proud holder of County Championship medals when he togged out with the victorious Shannon Rangers teams of 1972 and 1977. The Shanahan name is synonymous with the Beale club and his brother, Danny, played an influential role in the development of under-age football right through the 1980s and into the 1990s. Beale GAA extend sympathies to Mike's family. His name lives on in the annals of the club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhíl.

Shannon Rangers play St Brendan's in the Preliminary Round of the Senior County Championship on Saturday at

at 6.30 in Austin Stack Park, Tralee.
