County Minor League

Ballylongford/Asdee 3-11 Ballydonoghue 1-14.

Another exciting game in Round 4 of the County minor League played in O'Rahilly Park Ballylongford saw the home side coming out on top in a hard earned victory. With little separating the sides throughout the game, first half goals from Sean Hanrahan after a powerful run and a converted penalty from Eoin O'Connor put Bally/Asdee ahead on two occasions but Ballydonoghue responded to leave them all square at half time.

Ballylongford/Asdee 2-5 Ballydonoghue 1-8. In the second half it was point for point but a goal from Pa Carmody when he forced the ball to the net after a goalmouth scramble this gave Bally/Asdee a slight  lead which they maintained up to the final whistle.

Ballylongford 3-14 Moyvane 1-7.

Senior County League

Ballylongford 3-14 Moyvane 1-7.

The County League kicked this weekend for Division 5 with round 13 being played first due to the return of Kilgarvan creating an extra round of games.

This game was played in Brosnan Park Moyvane on a breezy Sunday afternoon with the wind favouring  the home side in the opening half.

The previous meeting of these two sides saw Moyvane having a comprehensive win in the North Kerry Championship so Ballylongford had it all to do on this occasion.

Brian Stack opened the scoring with a point for Moyvane in the 1st minute and while Moyvane were on top in the early stages there was only a point separating the sides at the end of the  first quarter, a Ciaran O’Connor brace and a point from  Padraig O’Neill providing the scores for Ballylongford.

Moyvane went on to extend their lead when Padraig Leahy found the net two minutes later.

Joe McCarthy added a point for Ballylongford before Ciaran O’Connor converted a penalty after a foul on Kenneth Foley.

Half Time Score                                                                                                                                       Moyvane 1-5 Ballylongford 1-5

Ballylongford with the wind to their back were very much on top in the scoring department in the second half and after Seanie Kennelly and Padraig Leahy swapped points they went on to add a further1.5 without reply the goal coming from Ciaran O’Connor after a good run from Jack Mulvihil

David Moloney for Moyvane got their only other point of the half in the 20th minute while Ballylongford added a further 1.3 a Ciaran O’Connor brace in between a point from full back Michael Mcellistrim and  Kenneth Foley goal.

Moyvane could have added a few further points but they needed goals however the Ballylongford defence who were excellent throughout the hour held firm.

Next weekend sees Round 1 of the County League begin for all divisions with Ballylongfor having a home game against Kilgarvan.

Referee Mike Hennessy Ballyduff.
