N.K. League: Div2 Rd1 Ballydonoghue (1-14) Knocknagoshel (1-6).
In a lively an entertaining game we got the season underway with a comfortable win over Knocknagoshel after a sluggish start that allowed Knock in for a goal after 10 mins. Went we got into our stride we put some excellent moves together that yielded 4pts in the next 10mins all from the boot of Paul Kennelly (2f). We played our best football during this period and when a Robert McGregor shot was parried by the Knock keeper Eirc O'Connor was on hand to finish to the net. We were well on top for the rest of the half with Darren Gogarty and Barry Shanahan winning good possession and we added another 3pts before the break from P. Kennelly, Thomas Kennelly and Martin O'Mahony. H/T B/Don (1-9) Knock (1-1).
As they had in the first half Knock started well and had the deficit back to 5pts after 10 mins. We were struggling a little at this stage and had only a point to show for our efforts after 20 mins. But our backs under a lot of pressure maintained that 5pt gap during this period of Knocknagoshel superiority with good performances particular from Dan Riordan and Darren Gogarty. We eventually regained our composure and were on top again for the final 10mins finishing well with scores from Jim Cremin, Robert McGregor (2), and T.Kennelly.
