Credit Union Senior Football League Playoffs
There were a number of important Senior Football League Playoffs down for decision over the Bank Holiday weekend to decide outstanding Promotion and Relegation issues:
Division 4 Title Playoff – Keel are Division 4 Champions
Keel 2-4
Lispole 0-9
Goals win games and so it proved at Strand Rd this afternoon where Keel were crowned SFL Division 4 champions following a narrow victory over Lispole who had to play 55 minutes of the game with only 14 men after Breándán Dorgan was dismissed for two yellow cards. Lispole got the first three points of the game but Keel’s first score was a goal from Luke Flynn in the 16th minute and their first point, from Gary Sayers, came just before the break to leave the score 0-5 to 1-1 in favour of Lispole.
The winners had their second goal soon after the restart when a free by Gary Sayers dropped short and Colm O’Neill finished to the net at the second attempt. Lispole were dependant on Declan O’Sullivan(0-6) for scores but Stephen Cahalane in the Keel goal made numerous fine saves to keep his net intact. Lispole did have a late chance of a point from a free to level it and force extra time but Keel held out.
