Firies 1–12   Keel 0-17 

 

Firies entertained Keel in the final round of the County League. This was a must win game for Keel, to ensure promotion to Division 3.  They started well with two Gary Sayers points, but Firies hit back with five points, three from Colm O'Shea and one each from Jack Sherwood, who was having a major influence on the game, and Mike Daly.  Gary Sayers  with two further points reduced the deficit.  Points were traded with three further Colm O'Shea points and for Keel, Sean Cremin and Luke Flynn, left the half time score:              Firies 0-09, Keel 0-08.

After the break, Keel opened the scoring through Terry O'Sullivan and Aaron Murphy.  Firies were then awarded a penalty for a foul on Jack Sherwood and Conal Murphy hit the crossbar and he followed up to put the ball into the net.  Colm O'Shea followed the goal with a point, but Keel hit five points without reply through Gary Sayers, Thomas Ladden and Terry O'Sullivan.  Further points were traded to leave a full time score of Firies 1-12,         Keel 0-17.
