This game, with the winners taking a giant step towards promotion, was played in Kenmare on Saturday evening. 

The hosts kicked the first two points of the contest but by the eleventh minute Spa had gone ahead, 0-03 to 0-02. Both sides kicked two more each with twenty five gone, the supporters of both sides getting value for the admission fee. After a very entertaining first half, the sides went to the dressing rooms with a point between them, Spa 0-07 to Kenmare’s 0-06.

The second half saw the sides exchange points for points and all present knew that a goal would be a huge score for either side. Twenty two minutes after the re-start, with Spa leading 0-11 to 0-09, that vital green flag score arrived. A fine move by Spa saw their lead increase to five points. The Kenmare lads tried hard to get a goal of their own, but a slightly better Spa team held out and went home with two very important league points.

Final score, Spa 1-12 Kenmare 0-10.
