Na Gaeil 1-17  Dromid Pearses 1-13

Na Gaeil entertained Dromid Pearses in Round 10 of the County League in Killeen on Saturday evening last on what was a perfect evening for football.  Na Gaeil opened the scoring with a point from their full forward Jamie Lowham. Dromid Pearses quickly responded with two points from Dilan Donoghue and Chris Farley. Eoin O’Neill scored a point for Na Gaeil on 8 minutes but Dromid’s  Graham O’Sullivan cancelled this out with a good point. Then Dilan Donoghue put over a free for Dromid followed by a good point for Na Gaeil by the in-form Jamie Lowham on 18 minutes. Dromid dominated the next 10 minutes of the half scoring 4 points without reply to go 6 points ahead with 25 minutes gone.  All 4 scores came from the boot of their impressive Dilan Donoghue, 3 from play and 1 from a free. Na Gaeil pulled 2 back before half time through Jamie Lowham and wing back Eoin Walsh to leave 4 between the sides going in at the break

Half time Score Na Gaeil 0-05  Dromid Pearses 0-09.

Na Gaeil needed a good start to the 2nd half and that’s exactly how things transpired. On their first attack the ball broke loose in the square and Na Gaeil midfielder Dan O’Connor picked it up and deftly hit it over the keeper’s head for an all important goal. This score gave Na Gaeil the shot in the arm they needed and they fired over the next two points through Mike Griffin and a Darragh Carmody free. Dromid’s midfielder Graham O’Sullivan scored a fine point but Na Gaeil’s Darragh Carmody responded with two of his own. Darragh Carmody and Graham O’Sullivan exchanged points again to leave Na Gaeil 2 ahead after 13 minutes of the 2nd half. But on the quarter hour mark Dromid were awarded a penalty for a leg block by a Na Gaeil defender in the large paralellogram. Dromid’s full forward stepped up and cooly dispatched the ball to the Na Gaeil net to put them a point up. But Na Gaeil never panicked and scored the next 4 points, two coming from Jamie Lowham and one each from Mike Griffin and Ian McCarthy to put Na Gaeil 3 up after 20 minutes. Dilan Donoghue and Na Gaeil’s Seamie O’Neill exchanged points. Darragh Carmody scored a wonderful free off his hand for Na Gaeil and Chris Farley and Jamie Lowham swopped points before referee Seamus Mulvihill blew the final whistle. Full time score: Na Gaeil 1-17; Dromid Pearses 1-13. It was a fabulous game of football played in a very sporting manner by both teams and thoroughly enjoyed by a very large crowd of Na Gaeil and Dromid supporters . Dromid had great displays from Denis Shine O’Sullivan and Padraig J. O’Sullivan in defence, Graham O’Sullivan at midfield and Chris Farley and Dilan Donoghue in attack. For Na Gaeil Kieran Dineen, David Culloty and Kieran Donovan were solid in defence, Eoin O’Neill and Dan O’Connor showed well at midfield and up front Darragh Carmody Mike Griffin and Jamie Lowham were a constant threat. But man of the match has to go to Na Gaeil’s full forward Jamie Lowham for his consistency over the 60 minutes and his contribution of 6 points from play.
