When two local rivals go head to head, you can always expect a challenging, physical match, as happened when Listry met Beaufort in The Credit Union Co. Senior Football League Round 8 in Fr Myles Allman Park in Listry last Thursday evening, August 3rd.

Beaufort's Ciaran Fitzgerald was the first to put a point on the scoreboard after getting a lovely pass form Ronan Murphy 3 minutes into the game. Beaufort dominated the 1st half of the match, Listry having been reduced to 14 men in the 22nd minute. Cormac O Connor gave a goal opportunity to Ciaran Kennedy and he buried it in the net after 24 minutes. Listry's Anthony Kennedy 0-2 and Gary O Sullivan 0-1 both put lovely points over the bar from play. Beaufort were well ahead leading by 1-06 Listry 0-03 heading into the 2nd half.

Then came the goal rush. Five minutes into the second half, Beaufort produced two goals from Ronan Ferris and Darragh Coffey to widen the gap to Beaufort 3 - 07 Listry 0 - 04. Listry weren't giving up without a fight, scoring 2 consecutive points from Conor O Sullivan and Derry Ahern. Listry however were then reduced to 13 men after 20 minutes. Listry showed strength and determination narrowly missing points.

However when the final whistle was blown by referee Stephen Mulvihill Snr, Beaufort had a wide margin win over Listry. Final Score Beaufort 3-10 Listry 0-07
