Keel 1-17
Castlegregory 0-8
Castlegregory travelled to Keel last evening for what was billed as a crucial Division 4 promotion tie.
Apart from the first ten minutes when the sides exchanged points, the game was totally dominated by Keel. Points from David McAssey, Aaron Murphy, Gary Sayers and Terry O’ Sullivan for Keel saw them build a lead of 0-9 to 0-3 after 25 minutes, Castlegregory’s scores coming from Anto Kelliher (free), Michael Scanlon and Liam Maunsell. A goal by Aaron Murphy immediately before the interval extended the lead.
To add to their woes, Castlegregory lost Alan Fitzgerald to injury before half time and Micheál Ó Sé shortly afterwards.
Despite an improved showing in the second half, the visitors were confined to pointed frees from Anto Kelliher (4) and Timmy Moriarty while five of Keel’s eight points in the same period came from play. In the end, Keel ran out comfortable winners on a score of 1-17 to 0-8.
