Ballylongford 2-8 Ballyduff 0-7
Ballylongford look set for promotion to Division 4 after they had seven points to spare over Ballyduff in the penultimate round of the County League. The first half was a low key affair with both side guilty of some poor shooting, with Ballylongford amassing ten wides and at the changeover the sides were level at three points apiece.
The second half saw an improvement in the intensity and Jack Mulvihill opened the scoring with a point after a good run from midfield in the first minute. Two minutes later, Ciaran O'Connor had the ball in the net from the penalty spot, after a foul on Tadhg McEllistrim, who had made another good run from his wing back position. The game entered a period of inertia once again and it was the 13th minute before Ballyduff got on the scoreboard, with a point from Padraig Hussey and they could have closed the gap further when a powerful shot came off the crossbar two minutes later. Ballylongford added their second goal in the 17th minute, when Sean Carmody made a good run from corner back and linked up with Jeremiah Tydings, who laid off to Ciaran O'Connor who made no mistake from close range.
Ballyduff responded with points from Michael Hussey, Sean Costello and team manager John Paul Leahy, to leave four points between the sides. However, this was to be their last score, as Ballylongford went on to rattle off three quick points - Matt O'Connor who was excellent throughout set up Joe McCarthy for one of his two points, while Jason Deegan intercepted a pass and his goal-bound shot was tipped over the bar by Sean Brown, bringing the game to a close.
