SENIOR CO. LEAGUE DIVISION 5 - ROUND 9 - 22/7/2017 2017-07-22 00:48:00

Austin Stacks 2-10; Cromane 1-22.
Cromane, with a game in hand (away to Cordal in a round 4 tie, refixed for Saturday,       26th August), kept their promotional prospects very much alive with a good win, in a      high-scoring game, in Connolly Park on Saturday evening (22nd July) in round 9 of the       Co. League.

Former Kerry stalwart, Seán O’Sullivan, opened the scoring for Cromane with a well-taken point after just nineteen seconds.  A Donagh McKivergan free in the seventh minute equalized matters and then, a minute later, the home side went ahead, when Danny Carroll latched on to a breaking ball to finish to the net from close in.  However, the visitors settled well and in the next 15 minutes had put over eight unanswered points, with Paul Patrick O’Sullivan and Mikey Houlihan unerring from play.  Stacks did have three late points to
leave the visitors ahead by 0-13 to 1-4 at half time.

A minute after the resumption, Stacks got through for their second goal, when Darren Bastible finished Danny Carroll’s cross to the net, but within a minute, Cromane’s corner forward, Lee Casey got his side’s only goal of the game.  Then the Mid Kerry boys went on   to score a further nine points to six for the Rock, to leave them with a comfortable nine points to spare at the end, so a very good game of open, attacking football with all but one
of Cromane’s 23 scores coming from play and nine of Stacks’ twelve scores coming from play.

Scorers:   Stacks:  Danny Carroll (1-2 – 2 frees), Donagh McKivergan (0-4 – one free), Darren Bastible (1-0), Michael Linnane (0-2), Cathal O’Reilly and Craig Corcoran (0-1 each).

Cromane:   Paul Patrick O’Sullivan (0-7), Mikey Houlihan (0-6), Lee Casey (1-1), Darren Houlihan (0-2 – one forty five), Seán O’Sullivan and Emmet Casey (0-2 each), Finbar Casey and Martin Sweeney (0-1 each).
