Castlegregory 3-18,  Tarbert 0-14

Castlegregory defeated Tarbert in their Division 4 encounter, played in Castlegregory.  The home side totally dominated the first half and led by 2-10 to 0-6 at half-time.  Timothy Moriarty had the ball in the Tarbert net within the first minute and the score set the tone for the game.  Anto Kelliher was in top form and kicked six points in the half, five from play. Tarbert were reliant on pointed frees from Finbarr Carrig and Killian Lanigan, their two points from open play coming from Lanigan and Danny Wren.  Excellent combination play by the Castlegregory men culminated in points from Liam Maunsell, Michael Scanlon, Timothy Moriarty and a pointed Alan Fitzgerald free.  A second Castlegregory goal in the 25^th minute from Brandon Hoare left them leading by twelve points at the interval.

The second half was a more subdued affair.  Points by Timmy Moriarty, Liam Maunsell and Maurice Slattery helped to maintain the home side’s lead.  The Shannonsiders, however, kept plugging away.  They were through on goal on a number of occasions, but the Castlegregory defence held firm.  Tarbert registered six points in the third quarter, which was their best period of the game.  A goal from Maurice Slattery midway through the second half put the contest beyond doubt for Castle.  Anto Kelliher, Jimmy O’ Grady, Maurice Slattery, Timmy Moriarty and Anton Kelliher brought proceedings to a close.      Final score: Castlegregory 3-18, Tarbert 0-14.
