SENIOR CO. LEAGUE DIVISION 4 - ROUND 8 - 16/7/2017 2017-07-16 23:32:00

Lios Póil 1-08   Renard 0-10

Lios Póil came out with a narrow win, in a keenly contested match.  Playing at home, both sides were level after ten minutes, following an exchange of points from Tomás Ó Cíobháin for Lios Póil and Mark Sugrue for Renard.  It was then that Renard hit a purple patch, as further points from Brian Sugrue and Darragh Fitgerald, to name just two of their scorers, followed. That left the half time score: Renard 0-06 Lios Póil  0-02.

Trailing by four points, it was Lios Póil who had the better start. They swiftly set about reducing the gap, with Nollaig Ó hUigín getting the opening point and the score of the second half.  Despite Brian Sugrue bringing it back to four immediately, it was the hosts who went on to outscore Renard 1-04 to 0-01 over the next ten minutes, Tomás O Cíobháin, the goal scorer.  This left Lios Póil with a slender one point lead 1-06 to 0-08.  Lios Póil added a further point, despite being reduced to 13 men.  Playing with two extra men, Renard went on to score the next point, only for Lios Póil to add a further two to their tally and thus extend their lead to two points.  Jim Sugrue for Renard succeeded in reducing the gap back to a point, only for them to be dealt with a double blow of a black card and losing a player to a red card.  Final Score:  Lios Póil 1-08, Renard 0-10
