SENIOR CO. LEAGUE DIVISION 3 - ROUND 8 - 15/7/2017 2017-07-15 22:58:00

Brosna 0-12 Dromid 2-07.

On Saturday evening last, Brosna suffered a narrow loss to Dromid, who still remain unbeaten in Division 3.  The opening period of the game saw both teams battling hard for possession and found it very tough to get scores on the scoreboard.  Brosna raced into the lead with the first two points of the game from Tom McGoldrick and Flor McAuliffe.  Both teams were guilty for both, giving away possession and kicking a number of wides. Dromid registered their first score of the game through the boot of Dilan Donoghue.  It wasn't until the last five minutes in the first half that both teams scored again, with Brosna taking the lead with a point from Adam Barry, but this was soon cancelled out by a free for Dromid’s Thomas Curran.  Half time score:  Brosna 0-03 Dromid 0-02.

The second half proved a much livelier affair with Dromid racing out of the blocks, with Thomas Curran scoring a great 45 followed by two quick goals. However, to Brosna’s credit they fought their way back into the game with Shane Curtin dominating the middle of field and scores from Tom McGoldrick and Gerald Nash.  The last five minutes were very exciting with Brosna searching for an equaliser and Dromid doing their best to hold on to their lead. Dromid had numerous opportunities to finish off the game, but thanks to the woodwork and great bravery from Brosna’s goalkeeper, Steve McAuliffe, ensured it was still a one point game going into extra time.  Brosna were unlucky not to snatch the draw , kicking two wides deep into added time, but overall it was Dromid who deserved the win, winning out on a score line of 2-7 to 12 points.
