Currow 3-11 Spa 2-14
Spa got off to a flying start with a goal from their wing forward from their first attack. This dominance continued, as Andrew Garnett was completely dominant in mid field and Michael O’Donoghue popped over three more points. Currow got on the score sheet after 16 minutes, through John O’Connor centre back and, from a poor clearance from the Spa goalkeeper Alex Fleming, scored a cracking goal. Spa replied with further points to lead at half time 1-10 to 1-3.
Currow improved dramatically in the second half and a dominant display from Daniel O’Shea yielded a goal and was fouled for a penalty converted by Mike Hanafin, to give the home side the lead half way through second half. Martin Howard had started to get the better of Garnett in midfield and John O’Connor and Daniel O’Shea were playing very well for the home side. Currow got into a three point lead with points from Alex Fleming, John Mc Mahon and Seams Brosnan. Spa had a point from Michael O’Donoghue and, into injury time, they converted a goal chance to lead by a point. Currow attacked from the kick out and won a 45, which goalkeeper Shane O’Leary converted to leave the final score 3-11 to 2-14. Dan O’Shea finished with 1-6 for Currow and Michael O’Donoghue with 0-7 for Spa.
