Knocknagoshel 0-4 Moyvane 5-9
Knocknagoshel got another heavy defeat in this Division 5 clash, which took place at the earlier time of 5p.m. in Knocknagoshel on Saturday evening last. Moyvane got off to the perfect start with a point from play in their first attack from their livewire corner forward Colin Enright. Centre forward, Timmy Noonan, quickly added another point and followed it up with a goal inside the first five minutes of the game. Playing with the aid of a lively breeze in the first half, Moyvane had a firm foothold in midfield, where Donal Leahy won the majority of kick outs in the air. Knocknagoshel did get on the front foot on a number of occasions in the half, but were wasteful in possession near goal and missed some good chances, when presented with free kicks. Meanwhile, Moyvane threatened with every
attack and had points from Eoin Stack, Martin Stack and Brian Stack, before Donal Leahy got on the end of a flowing move to rattle the net for their second goal. They added two more goals through Brian Stack and Martin Stack to leave the half time score at 4-5 to 0-0 in favour of the visitors.
Knocknagoshel raised their game in the second half and, with the breeze to his back, Niall Barrett kicked a fine point from outside the 45metre line. Conor Sheehan, who moved from full back to centre forward, added another point with his left leg, before Colin Enright struck for Moyvane’s fifth goal of the day. Moyvane introduced their subs and Niall Mulvihill got his name on the board, when he tapped over, after cutting in from the left wing. Aidan Keane added another from a free, before Niall Barrett kicked his second point of the half for the home team. David O’Donoghue, who played well when moved to midfield for Knocknagoshel, kicked a fine long-range point after a solo run from inside his own half. This was to be Knocknagoshel’s last score as Moyvane added a further two points from Colin
Enright and Martin Stack to leave the final score at 5-9 to 0-4 in favour of Moyvane. Knocknagoshel have had a tough run of results and face another difficult fixture away to Cordal next weekend. Injuries to key players haven't helped their cause and they are struggling to get scores on the board of late.
